A Disappointing Stay at Kritikakis Village Hotel – Not Worth the Price
We recently stayed at Kritikakis Village Hotel in Ios and had a thoroughly unpleasant experience. Despite its 4.5-star rating and claims of offering "comfortable and spacious rooms with stunning sea views," our stay was marred by several issues that made it feel more like a budget pension than a premium hotel.
Ant Infestation and Chemical Treatment Upon arrival, we discovered an ant infestation in our room. The hotel's solution was to douse the area with harsh chemicals, which not only left the room smelling unbearable but also caused my wife to feel unwell (picture attached with yellow chemical)l.
Unpleasant Garbage View The room description promised a sea view, but what we were greeted with was a patio littered with garbage that had been accumulating for five days. This unsightly view was not only disappointing but also unacceptable for a hotel of this supposed caliber (picture attached)
Overcrowded and Inadequate Room for Families Advertised as suitable for a family of four, the room was cramped and barely accommodated two adults and two children. If your kids are under the age of 6 any room in this hotel would be suitable. However, if your there is more than two adults in the room is insufficient, and the lack of proper amenities makes it very uncomfortable. (picture attached)
Overpriced for the Quality & Room sizes At €240 per night, we expected a much higher standard of accommodation. Comparable rooms in the area, such as those at Yialos Ios Hotel (another 4.5 star hotel) offer better value for money. The quality of the room and services did not justify the steep price tag.
Inconsistent Quality Across Rooms Our group of 14 had booked multiple rooms, and the consensus was unanimous: all rooms were similarly disappointing. The lack of consistency in quality suggests that the hotel's standards are not up to par. If you really dig into the website the smallest room is 20m² & the largest is 28m². A difference of only 75 sq ft…. Not worthy of any additional costs.
Not a 4.5-Star Experience In our opinion, Kritikakis Village Hotel does not deserve its 4.5-star rating. The issues we encountered, from the ant infestation to the garbage view and cramped rooms, point to a lack of attention to detail and guest satisfaction. It felt more like a budget pension than a luxury hotel.

Read moreWe had a really beautiful stay at this hotel. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by friendly staff at the reception who were so helpful (they even give you a little video presentation to talk about all things Ios and the hotel). Amalia in particular was a delight, she helped us book our boat tour the next day and got us in last minute and ensured we were well looked after. It was our first time in Ios, so it was lovely that she was so helpful - we felt really comfortable getting around and knowing what to do after her recommendations and help.||Our room was nice and clean, plenty of room for 2 people with 2 big suitcases, the bathroom is a little small and that would be my only knock. ||Close to most things (port especially) but the walk to the town is up a massive hill, so going up can be a struggle. The bus stop however is directly outside of the hotel and comes every 15 mins which takes you to everywhere on the island. ||Highly recommend this place to anyone wanting nice people, quiet and relaxing place to stay (away from the...
