We were genuinely excited to visit Lord Byron. Our group arrived in smaller waves to be respectful and not overwhelm the place. We were kind, patient, and happy to spend time and money there (we spent 70€ on drinks before even ordering food). Some of our friends who arrived earlier had a great meal, so we were hoping for the same.
Instead, we were met with coldness and an attitude from the owner that honestly caught us off guard. We kept trying to give her the benefit of the doubt, but it got worse the longer we stayed. Eventually, we felt so uncomfortable, we decided to leave before ordering any food.
Later, we saw her responses to our reviews and they were shocking. She insulted guests, called us “stupid” and “idiots,” and even threatened to post a video of us. I honestly wish she would, because all it would show is how calm and respectful we were.
Everywhere else in Greece we were met with warmth and kindness. This was the one exception. And it’s a shame, because the waitstaff was lovely, the place itself had charm, and we really wanted to love it.
Edit to add: After reading your insulting response Molly, I want to clarify that I am neither dishonest nor “stupid” (other than thinking you would be kind to us when I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt and have small talk with you that day - a lovely local couple we met while having drinks at Kafeneio H Nios told us all about your restaurant and mentioned you were also from the states (CA) - we were excited to have something to chat about/relate to, but instead of responding to me, you rolled your eyes and condescendingly asked if we were ready to order, then went on to insult our friends. I stand by everything in my original review, which was written respectfully and truthfully, AS YOU KNOW. I’ll let future guests read both sides and decide...
Read moreDo not come and eat here if the owner is working. We came with group but staggered when we arrived due to the owner insisting they cannot accommodate us all at once. When the latter half of the group arrived, she informed us this many people is not allowed and we would have to wait for food as there is only 1 chef. We expressed we were comfortable waiting as long as they need. We had two more rude visits to our table from the owner after we sat down, the last of which she told us she felt it was a sign of disrespect from our group leader bringing this many people. Bringing SERVICE to her restaurant despite being happy to wait as long as they needed to cook is apparently disrespectful.
Our reviews are being taken down after the owner leaves rancid comments under them - pay attention to how she...
Read moreI had never knowingly eaten something with its own Facebook group before visiting the Lord Byron on Ios. The pork chops there are locally famous and it's understandable why. I have a huge appetite and the plate that arrived was huge. The pork chop was like a tomahawk axe on the plate and it came with a mountain of skinny fries. The atmosphere of the place was wonderful and cosy inside but we sat in the outside space on the small square which was really beautiful. The staff were so attentive, especially Molly, the owner who not only looked after us and made us super welcome in the restaurant but also gave is great tips on vegan cheeses when we met her in the supermarket and provided us with translation services when we were trying to navigate the ingredients labels on some of the items there....
