Three years in a row already, best Holiday at Kalymnos
In June 2018 (1st till 8th) we had a very pleasant stay at the MasouriBlu and I would like to share my experience with people, who are interested in making vacation at Kalymnos.
First of all, the rooms are great. You can choose between 13 rooms in different price classes and sizes. There are regular single & double rooms, family suites or romantic and beautiful suites for you and your company. They are all equipped with a air conditioner. Every room has it's unique furnishings and very comfortable beds, every night I slept like lying in the clouds ;) This also includes a very private and pleasant atmosphere, which assists the regeneration great.
The MasouriBlu is a three star boutique hotel with the occurrence of a good four start hotel:
Not only the rooms, but also the reception area is a lovely place. The hotel owner invested quite a sum to set up the interior. In my opinion, she did it very well. Every morning you are able to start the sunny day with a delicious breakfast. Everything tastes good, you get fresh omelet, fresh orange juice, unbelieveble palatable cheese etc. Also you eat diversified. The cook changes the warm meals every day. So in seven mornings we've eaten only two times the same things. The stuff speaks solid english. The owner & mangager of the hotel even very well. Additionally the hotel mangager speaks native french, greek and german. I'm sure everyone will be able to communicate with the hotel :)
Masouri is the location and after three visits I still can say, it's the most beautiful place at Kalymnos. The beach is right in front of the hotel and the bit more expensive double room with sea view will be rewarded.
I'm very grateful for my first scuba diving experience at Kalymnos, which was organized by the hotel manager. The room service is cleaning the rooms thoroughly and changing the towels everyday if needed.
From my point of view also a very positive aspect is the hotel owner itself. Miss Klonari is a very likable women, which leads the hotel with passion.
Here some points, which I see beyond the standard of a three stars hotel:
The arrival and departure was managed by the hotel. My recommendation is, just kindly ask and they will organize it for you. This includes:
Information about the ferry timetable Pre Order of cabs Carrying suitcases
As a hotel guest you have access to the exclusive teracce and a private beach with own chairs. Both areas are maintained and Miss Klonari renewed the furniture every season. For comparsion, 4.00 EUR is the price for one chair in the public area. With my company I would have to pay 56.00 EUR (7D.* 2P * 4.00 €).
The hotel equipps the rooms with extra beach towels. In your room, you have a water heater and dishes for coffee and tea
Last point for conclusion:
Our plane departed Friday 09:35 a.m. from Kos. Breakfast time is between 07:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The hotel stuff was very kind and prepared breakfast one hour earlier (06:00 a.m.), so that we could eat & get our flight. What a great service, Thank you for that!
You need to take the ferry (ca. 20-30 minutes) to get from Kalymnos to Kos. We were a bit unlucky with the ferry starting at 06:50 a.m. From the hotel to the port Kalymnos you have 20-30 minutes drive time with the cab.
I'am looking forward to stay again at the MasouriBlu next year.
Worth mentioning: Many grocery & souvenir shops are along the road, where you get the fundamental stuff like water or fruits From three restaurants we were out for dinner, "Avra Aigaiou" was the best :) We've experienced just one cloudy/a bit rainy day in the past vacations. This and last year we've had only warm/sunny days. The water quality of the sea is fantastic. Thanks to the small island Telendos for cleaning the water :) The restarant Zorbas next to the hotel offers drink & lunch service also at the beach and private terrace.
Thanks...
Read moreWe stayed at the MasouriBlu for 10 days in October 2022 as climbers. The accommodations are very clean and comfortable. We were in a room on the side (first series of photos are of that room, I don’t recall the name… maybe Cleo?). More than spacious enough for 2 adults and their gear 😂 we later moved into a room on the first floor overlooking the water that was very very spacious (could fit 2 couples or a family with 2 kids, including adult kids). Equally clean and tidy.
The main building is kept in fantastic condition. It’s both elegant and comfortable. Breakfasts are served in the lobby, and each breakfast included an appetizer (yogurt with fruit or a home-baked item) and an egg dish. Unlimited coffee, tea, and juice. Items are brought to you, not buffet style. There isn’t flexibility in the menu, so if you aren’t a fan of eggs then opt-out. If you are a fan, they are gorgeous golden eggs creatively served. You will be very full!
The staff is very nice and professional. They cook the meals, host, and clean the rooms. It’s a small crew, and they’re excellent. The owner/host is kind and interested in getting to know you - someone whose true calling is hospitality. She prides herself on having a top-notch property and creating a great environment.
The rooms are very quiet. You will hear the ocean a bit and any exceptionally loud noises (there was a surprise street concert one night). If you’re sensitive to noise, bring ear plugs just in case. The beds are full-sized beds - Kings are full Kings, not two XL twin beds pushed together.
The beach bar has good drinks and food, as well as free sunbeds and umbrellas. There’s a little market to pick up lunch (if you’re a climber), and it’s easy walking to quite a few popular climbing areas.

Read moreWe spent a wonderful week at this gorgeous boutique hotel and highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Kalymnos. The lobby is stunning with its marble floor, arched windows facing the sea, amazing view of the bay and the island of Telendos, and tasteful furnishings. You can sit on the balcony in the lounge for breakfast or a cup of Greek coffee and read your book or just enjoy the sea breeze or the sunset. If you need something to read, there is a collection of paperbacks in several languages available to borrow. There is also a small patio and garden with lovely succulents and other plants in the courtyard to enjoy. The rooms are very clean and new looking. They have excellent air conditioning and great water pressure. The beds, bedding, and towels are high quality. There is a small refrigerator in the room to keep your food and drinks cold. The owner is very warm and welcoming. She and her staff are friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make sure your stay is everything you hoped it would be. The hotel is located on a hill overlooking the bay, so you need to walk down some stairs to get to the entrance. Our taxi driver cheerfully carried our suitcase all the way down for us without even being asked. Restaurants, small grocery stores, car and moped rentals, and tourist shops are all within walking distance, and the beach is just downstairs....
