Irene's House — Hotel in Municipality of Karpathos

A truly memorable stay that we will treasure for a lifetime!! We had the last minute luck of staying at Irene’s House traditional house in the unique Village of Olympos in Karpathos for one night in July 2023. Irene is extremely helpful and willing to share valuable tips for the village and island. The attention, care and very subtle renovation she has done to her family house is simply wonderful, respecting its initial construction. It is a two floor house and the balcony on the upper floor is excellent to sit on in peace and gaze at all the people arriving and departing from tye village as well as enjoy a magnificent view of the mountain. The house is fully equipped with anything one may need and Irene has paid true attention to detail for her guests. It is situated in the heart of the village, relatively close to the parking area which was very convenient for the luggage tranfer. Our 3 nights stay in Olympos was just fantastic! What a town! And what kind people we met! Please don't only visit Olympos during daytime, but stay there some nights to get the atmosphere when all the other tourists have left the town! We did and it was great!||Olympos don't have much high quality accommodation, but we rented Irene's House and that was a very good choice. Unfortunately Irene her self was in Athens with a broken leg! But we got all the information we need from her via mail/FB. The house is in the main street. Upstairs is a kitchen area and a sitting room with a balcony with beautiful view. We loved this sitting room. Everything was clean. We loved the traditional feeling of the house with its soufah bed and the location in the middle of old style Olympus. Well equipped kitchen. The small modern bathroom is perfectly functional - although I would enjoy a glass door on the shower instead of the plastic curtain. Perfect for two people. Welcome mail with all necessary information about the house. ||Ideal base for hiking in the beautiful northern part of the island. We stayed 5 nights and thought it to be just the right duration.
