We just finished a wonderful stay at Utopia, one of the numerous Myconian hotels in Mykonos. The only challenge we had the entire stay was arranging our transport from the airport. We sent an email a few days before leaving for Greece and it was not answered. However, when we called we were immediately booked a private transfer. The transfer was at the airport for us when we arrived, so no big deal at all.||The Utopia is one of four Myconian hotels on Elia Beach. It's also the highest up in the hill, which ain't nobody walking up! It is seriously one of the steepest hills I've seen. Luckily, there is a shuttle to and from the beach (maybe a 3 minute drive). The shuttle is easily avaialble. When you walk out of the hotel the reception immediately asks if oyu need the shuttle to the beach and call for it if it's not already there (they just go between the beach and hotel, so are always nearby). You can also shuttle to one of the other Myconians to use the pool or go to one of the other restaurants. We didn't because we really enjoyed the ones at Utopia.||Utopia is the smaller of the different Myconian hotels in the Elia Beach area. As such, the pool is smaller than the others (but plenty big enough), and there is no hot tub (the other hotels have those by the pool). Didn't matter. As normal in anywhere we looked to stay, the pools are not heated. No big deal, the water was chilly but refreshing.||We came in October, staying up to a day before the hotel closed for the winter (Oct 6-10). The weather was perfect, the sun warm. Temperatures were around 77-78 during the day, a bit cooler at night. It was good beach weather. Also, no crowds at all.||Service at the hotel was excellent. Breakfast was nice, buffet style, with everything from eggs to yogurt to fruit available. Lunch and dinner were also nice, a bit pricy of course since it's a 5 star hotel.||There is shuttle service (they have their own big bus) to Mykonos Town. It's a set schedule, not the most convenient but it worked fine. For example, the first shuttle in the morning is at 8:45 (25 minutes to town) and the first one back after that is 2:30 pm. The next one isn't until 6:30. However, there are more in the evening hours. It totally worked out fine, we spent one evening in town and one morning/lunch.||Costas is the manager and he (like all the staff) is super friendly and nice. He constantly is walking around at mealtime asking everyone if they are enjoying their stay and if their rooms are ok. He is always avaialble up front as well if you need anything. All the staff at the hotel are friendly and helpful. I did notice, though, that they are always there. By that I mean morning to night, the same people. They have LONG shifts, and I understand that is common in the Greek islands, since they have a short season. I just feel bad they work from morning to night (Costas too, he's always there!)||Our room was wonderful. We had a private pool and spectacular view of the sea. The room is a nice size, and there is a bathtub with views to the sea, and enclosed shower by the toilet. The one drawback was the bed, which is some kind of this mattress topper on like a thick futon base or something. It wasn't very comfortable. However, the rest of the hotel experience made up for this.||Overall, we loved our stay at the Myconian Utopia and would stay here again in a heartbeat. The biggest reasons for this are the view, the service, and the people. Thank you Costas and staff for a...
Read moreI travel a lot, and I can honestly say my stay at Myconian Utopia was the best experience I have ever had. What makes this hotel stand out above all else is the staff. They do not just work individually, they cooperate with one another seamlessly, almost like they know where you are and what you need at every moment. It felt like a personal team looking after me.||Two people in particular deserve special mention: Paulina and Michael. Paulina is intelligent, kind, and beautiful, and she carried herself with such warmth and grace that made every interaction a joy. Michael was equally outstanding, attentive, thoughtful, and genuinely caring. Together, they represented the best of what hospitality can be.||Another lovely moment came from Evi, who first took the bull in good humor and then expressed genuine curiosity about something I was drawing. That small, personal touch made me feel seen and cared for, and it was one of those rare interactions you do not forget.||On arrival, I was welcomed by Katerina with her striking black hair, Paulina with red, and Juliette with blonde. I could not help but compare them to Greek goddesses, which set the tone for what would become an extraordinary stay. Juliette deserves a special mention as well for greeting me at breakfast every morning with a friendly and genuine smile. That daily kindness was a highlight and always started my mornings in the best way.||The rooms themselves are immaculate, with every detail considered. From the kits provided for anything you might need, to fresh water left every night, the attention to detail is phenomenal. The views from every room look out across the sparkling Aegean, and they are nothing short of stunning.||The coordination of the staff was particularly impressive. For example, when I left my Do Not Disturb sign on the door but headed out to the pool, the team knew and reminded me so housekeeping could clean my room while I enjoyed the sun. That kind of attentiveness shows the level of care and communication that sets this hotel apart.||The hotel is spotless, beautifully maintained, and infused with a kind of effortless luxury that never feels forced. Add the warmth and cooperation of the staff, and you have something truly special.||Myconian Utopia does not just live up to its name, it...
Read moreWe were meant to be staying in the Utopia at the end of our trip to Mykonos, and it was the part to which we were most looking forward by far, as it looked gorgeous and had fantastic reviews. We stayed at Utopia’s sister property, Korali, for three nights beforehand. The receptionist there seemed surprised we were staying at Utopia and asked to see our reservation (booked only a couple of weeks previously), but didn’t say anything further.
We then checked out and got transferred to - what we were told - would be Utopia. Instead, we were dropped off down the road at a completely different hotel, another sister property, called Myconian Villa Collection. We asked the driver if he was sure that was Utopia and he simply said ‘this is your hotel’. We thought maybe we would check in there and then be taken to Utopia, so continued.
The receptionist there told us that Utopia ‘had had to close at the last minute unexpectedly due to low occupancy’ (not sure how that is in some way an unexpected surprise, given that people tend to book holidays weeks in advance) but lucky us, we’ve been upgraded to this hotel! No apologies or prior explanation. And, unless you like being trapped in a purgatory with Peter Stringfellow in his mansion with your eyes gouged out, it’s most definitely a downgrade - gaudy and tacky and utterly tasteless.
I understand that it’s the end of the season, and could feasibly contemplate that the Utopia would have to shut early. But we should have been informed of that and presented with options, rather than being shuttled off and dumped at a hotel we never ever would have chosen. I am shocked that a group of hotels holding themselves out to be associated with Relais & Chateau would behave in such a duplicitous and underhand manner, as everyone working in the Myconian Group to whom we spoke and mentioned we were going to Utopia clearly knew it wasn’t open...
