Stunning views from the roof top bar and restaurant but general overall feel and condition of hotel was one of being run down and in need of some serious maintenance!|On first arriving we found the reception unattended then having them turn up looking sweaty and dishevelled, then being shown to a very cold, utilitarian style room at nearly 2.30am after a very long day and evening of travelling was not a great start.|We showed the receptionist our booking details as we had booked a deluxe double room (Room 322) only to be told that is what we had. We asked for an explanation as what is deemed ‘deluxe’ with this room, the receptionist could not provide an answer and told us to speak to the manager the following morning. |We slept very little for the reminder of that night due to how lumpy and springy the mattress was as well as the poor quality/support of the pillows provided, and went back to reception the following morning as instructed to speak to the manager. After explaining our initial experience upon arriving they advised us to return later that morning where there would be a key to view another room.|The other room we viewed was next to the top pool bar and was not in a good state of repair; the shower curtain was hanging off the pole, it was a smaller room and the floor tiles were chipped, so we refused this room and was advised there were no other options available. In fairness, we were provided with an additional pillow each upon request, but was told there was nothing that could be done about mattress. |We subsequently found one side of the patio doors was open slightly, the lock was broken (security issue) and again, once reported, it was fixed that same day, however, we should not have to have even been faced with these issues and would ask how was this not picked up by the cleaning staff?|It is also worth mentioning that apart from a bottle of complementary water when we arrived, this was not offered for the remainder of our stay, nor was there any tea or coffee or milk replenishment, even though the room contained a small kettle.|With regards to the restaurant and our experience at meal times, we were very disappointed overall; Apart from the stunning views, these were somewhat overshadowed by the plaque of wasps in constant attendance, and while there was a good choice of food options, both cold and hot, unfortunately, the hot food was brought out in [cold] catering style aluminium trays, and the plates were also cold, which meant by the time you selected your options and returned to your table, the hot food was cold!|Additionally, there were no china cups available at any meal time for the first four days, the self serve coffee machines broke down regularly, there were broken chairs throughout [no cushioning on most of them], and you had to go forage for your own cutlery and salt and pepper. If that was not bad enough, for the first few days, we had to clear our own table and scrape our own plates, until the staff seemed to appear and take over. The quality of the [limited] soft drinks were also very poor quality and the two choices of wine – one white, one red - were both poor quality and carbonated as they were dispensed through the same machine as the soft drinks. We ended up eating out the last three evenings.|With regards to the two pool areas; the lower pool had two self service drink machines, one of which was not working and there were no provisions available in order to make use of this facility the whole week we were there, everyone was using the top pool instead!|With regards to the top pool, the main bar of the hotel, was ok, but you had to self-service your own beer and were advised there were 5 cocktails to choose from; 3 alcoholic and two non-alcoholic options. There were no drinks on display so you did not know what alternatives were on offer or if they were included in the overall cost of the holiday. A lot of reviews on this site mention the barman Nicos, and yes, he was friendly, but then is that not a requisite of the role/part and parcel of working in hospitality? We feel the reason he is mentioned so often in reviews is the fact he was the only visible member of staff that made the effort to interact!||Asked about a late check out room on first day and periodically throughout the week, was told to come back day before departure, did this to be told not an option, asked to speak to manager, who we found quite rude and dismissive telling my partner and I “I know how you English complain”||To summerise;|Uncomfortable mattress and pillows & poor quality/old sheets and throwover, no ambience considering it is marketed as a deluxe room|Utilitarian furniture and feel to the room|Tea, coffee, water never replenished/non existent|Limescale on tap, shower which was showing mold and rust, lose toilet, overall cleanliness poor & foul smell lingering last two days we were there||Restaurant : no ambience, canteen style environment designed to get you in and out as quick as possible.|Paper cups, Self serve tea, coffee, water and poor quality drinks served in wafer thin clear plastic cups that were disposed of in same bin as food waste (no recycling facilities/environmental sustainability)|Tea. Coffee, sugar sachets never replenished|Coffee machines broke down regularly – could not cope with volume of users – staff boiling kettles and using instant coffee from a jar|4 slot toaster you would find in a normal household being operated by a member of the kitchen staff, resulting in long queues for anyone wanting toast|Hot food brought out in cold metal catering trays and plates were cold so by time you got to table, hot food was cold|Constant plague of wasps, did not seem to have any preventative pest control measures in place, so last three evenings we ate outside of hotel at local taverna’s that did seem to know how to deter wasps and mosquitos.||Bar facilities: Bottom pool bar facilities for refreshments not available for whole stay, meaning you had to walk numerous steps to the top bar to get poor quality mixed cocktails which were limited in options, no drink options, no alcoholic or soft were on display, discouraged from asking for drinks outside of beer and the 5 cocktails on the menu. Requested a mojito, was met with resistance.|Bar snacks that were actually a half white bread sandwich with cheese, ham and Lettice – every day! Or, a minuscule piece of ham, cheese and lettice wrap – every day!|No cushions on any chairs and plastic lattice chairs were broken|Sun loungers woeful , many broken, no cushions, broken parasols and chipped tiles and swimming pool grates||General overall condition of hotel and facilities: Chipped steps throughout, anti-slip stair grippers missing, holes in wall, general run down feel to...
Read moreWe arrived at the hotel at 1.30am and was immediately told that tonight we would have to sleep at a different hotel as our room had storm damage. We were not aware that there had been a storm that day no reports of evidence of this. This was the only explanation given, no apology or empathy just told it was ok. The man at reception kept saying it’s ok it’s just for one night like this sort of thing happens regularly. We were very tired at this time in the morning and nothing we could do so had to go along with it. ||||We were not told where we were going, a car came immediately to collect us and take us. We were told we would be picked up at 9.30am in the morning and brought back to the hotel. We were taken just down the road and we revered into a driveway. A lady came out of a building and told us our room number and we were told it’s very easy to find. In the pitch black in middle of night looking for our room it was not very easy. There was no too sheets on the beds to get under but we managed to find a blanket in a wardrobe to use. The patio doors had been left open so it was full of insects. This whole experience was very unsettling for us. ||||In the morning we went to reception at 9.30am and we were told a car was on its way, which we waited only about 10 mins. Another couple was also waiting who had had the same experience as us. ||||On arrival at Porto Demo we were told our room would be ready in about two hours. We went to the restaurant for breakfast which unfortunately was cold. The food generally was very basic and bland sometimes cold sometimes warm. The drinks were also self service in plastic cups which you would not expect in a 4 Star hotel. The Jams and condiments were swarming with wasps and you had to fight with them to get to them. The atmosphere in the restaurant was non existent. However, as you have read in all the other reviews the views and sunset were lovely. ||||After eating we went to sit up at the bar which again had beautiful views. We had a couple of drinks while waiting for our room to be ready. ||||At about 12pm we were allocated room 122 which she called a delux suite, I’m not sure how this was delux or a suite. Our luggage was carried up for us by a staff member. On arrival there was an awful damp/ sewage smell. The bedroom itself was ok apart from dead mosquitos stuck to the walls. The bathroom left a lot to be desired and just felt dirty. There was rust, dirt, build up of lime scale a broken light and in need of a desperate upgrade of accessories, taps, lights as you can see in the photos. The shower was broken so you could not hold the shower head in it and had to shower by hand. I did report this and to be fair someone came and put a new holder on straight away which took about 5 minutes. Which just shows how easy it is. Surely the cleaners should report when these things are broken and they should be fixed before it’s used again. We did not report the broken light as it still worked even though it was hanging out of the ceiling and to be honest didn’t see the point. And you should not have to in a 4 star hotel as these are just basics. The handrail at reception going up the ramp was also broken and loose. ||||We did not spend much time in the hotel as we ||were so disappointed with our experience. We spent time at the beach during the day at visage where we were attended to by a lovely boy everyday bringing us snacks and drinks. On an evening most nights we ate out. The hotel was very noisy at night with the younger ones coming home drunk banging on doors and talking loud etc, which of course is not the hotels fault.||||Our stay at the Hotel was very disappointing and was not what we were expecting for a 4 star boutique Hotel and not what we are used to. If this was 3 star Hotel then fair enough but the fact that it’s sold as a 4 star boutique Hotel and comparing it to others I have stayed in it was a huge disappointment. ||||We were sent a bottle of wine and fruit for our inconvenience and were also given a free late check out on our last day which was good of them. ||||This was our first stay in corfu however I’ve stayed on other Greek Islands that did not disappoint. We had read the reviews about this hotel and was prepared for the steps which did not bother us and the cold food but not the basic cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel||||This Hotel has the potential to be a 4 star boutique hotel but it is...
