Perfect service!
For years we have been coming to the Piraeus Dream hotel, in recent years renamed Piraeus City Hotel. The choice to spend the night here is multiple for us: • It is a downright comfortable hotel, spotlessly clean, with good service, etc. • Opposite the hotel is a small parking lot belonging to or used by Mr Dimitris. Nowhere in this city will you find such a convenient hotel-parking combination, without ending up in the * prices. • The hotel is about 800 meters from the harbour pier where our boat to Naxos, Paros, Ios or Santorini leaves early in the morning (6:25 am). This is important. The traffic in Greater Athens is very hectic and you have to be at the boat in time to be able to sail. • The hotel has lovely rooms on the sixth floor, an excellent breakfast option on the seventh and a roof terrace restaurant on the eighth floor. That combination does it for us. As we arrived at the hotel, it starts with Dimitris' parking not opening. There is a good reason for this: they now have a parking space for a few cars in front of their own hotel entrance: completely free of charge! Okay, perfectly arranged. But a little later, when checking in, it turns out that the roof terrace, and therefore the restaurant, no longer exists. Everything has been completely flattened and replaced by solar panels. Due to the rise in energy prices, the electricity consumption per month at this hotel increased too extreme. Now, based on a large stack of menus, the staff advises you a restaurant in the area or you can have food delivered, which we have done: Dinner time on the spacious terrace. All in all, a good alternative. In summary: we spent the night perfectly, as we used to do so often before the Corona. If we can travel to Greece again, we will stay at the Piraeus City...
Read moreCommunication was AMAZING - both before and during our stay.
As we made the initial reservation, the hotel kindly offered to measure the elevator and doorways to ensure the room would accommodate our child's wheelchair. The entire hotel grounds & room were perfectly accomodating to the wheelchair - which is sometimes a difficult feat in our travels.
When we arrived, the hotel staff was extremely friendly and helped us map out our stay - explaining the accomodations, confirming our ferry check-in time and port gate, and showing us areas with the best restaurants.
The hotel staff was genuinely friendly and caring with EVERY interaction during our stay.
NOTE: The hotel was literally a 3 minute walk/roll (wheelchair) to our port gate. This was PERFECT as we arrived in Athens around 12n, took a taxi directly to the hotel (although we should have reserved the hotel's transportation service), relaxed in the evening (which helped us acclimate to the time change), and then were rested for our early ferry departure the next morning.
Our only regret was not staying more than 1 night as there were other nearby areas we did not have time to explore. We will plan an extended stay here for our next...
Read moreWe had stayed at the Piraeus Dream Hotel in 2016 and as we had only good experiences, stayed there again at the beginning of August 2018. If anything, it was better. What you have to remember is that this is a budget hotel with very modest room rates. But the rooms are clean, tidy, and more than adequate. We arrived at 8.30am and the staff immediately made a room available for us which saved us hanging about until the normal afternoon check in time. That evening we dined in the restaurant on the top floor. We had been in the USA and Europe for a month, and the chef at the Piraeus Dream Hotel treated us to the best and most generous meal we had experienced on the whole trip. If you ever get near the place, order the stuffed mushrooms; they are to die for. We were on a flight to Singapore when I realised I had left clothing in the wardrobe. On reaching our destination, I emailed the hotel and gave them the details. They emailed me back within a few hours to tell me they had recovered my clothing, had packaged it, and mailed it to my address in New Zealand, free of charge. Service does not get any better than that. We're sure to pass through Piraeus again and it will be there we...
