FILON Hotel — Hotel in Municipality of Piraeus

First of all, the staff at this hotel were excellent. They were extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. They all spoke fluent English.

The room was clean and a very good size. The bed was comfortable enough. The shower took a bit of getting used to as it was handheld rather than overhead. There was good air conditioning to keep us cool. Overall, no frills but that's to be expected for the price.

The lobby is modern and has comfy sofas to lounge on. There is a reasonably priced vending machine which was really useful for grabbing bottles of water (50c each) & a beer or two (€1.20 each).

The only real negative is the noise at night. There is a nightclub close by that plays loud music until ~6am. There were also a lot of people chatting as they came and went to other rooms throughout the night, which really carried through into our room. Perhaps the soundproofing of the room doors could be improved to help with this.

The hotel itself is good, modern and clean. The room assigned to us was pretty good, although the bathroom was small and without a window. The rooms have no balcony, apparently. The hotel staff is overall polite. What really ruins the whole experience are some music bars with incredibly loud music playing ALL night long until 8.00 in the morning. It's truly unbelievable and unacceptable because whoever books a room in a hotel wants to sleep at night and not be molested by the unspeakably loud music playing from nearby music bars. As a hotel being so close to these facilities the bare minimum would be to ensure soundproofing which is obviously lacking. I was waken by such music at 4 in the morning and could resume my sleep. Which is completely insane. My sleep was not only disturbed but completely and violenty interrupted. It's the first time I have experienced...

Great location, very close (less than 5 min walk) to the ferry gate needed to reach Naxos and Paros (which is opposite a great value bakery). Perfect place to stay before an early morning ferry.- Very kind and helpful receptionist who went out of his way to welcome us despite us arriving close to midnight. He even gave us tips for our return visit to Athens.- Clean, spacious room with good water pressure and strong air con.- WiFi also worked well.- We didn't experience the loud noise from a nearby club that other people mention in reviews for this place but it was a week night that we stayed.- Only note for improvement would be for the curtains to cover the full window and for no plastic cups for water in reception and reusable toiletries in the bathroom so the hotel can be more environmentally friendly.- We didn't have breakfast here so can't comment...
