Entrance to this enchanting little museum is hidden inside the main Piraeus train station. The museum is privately owned but charges no entrance fee. It is run by enthusiast and ex-employes of the electric railway company. It is a shame that the museum forbids photographs as I think they might help tempt people to take a look. I found the museum fascinating, and despite being small, you can easily spend a an hour or two there. The museum charts the development of the Athens Piraeus public transport system from horse drawn tram through to the electric train. There are over 6000 exhibits, everything from tickets, to switch gear, signalling equipment, rail laying and cutting equipment, photographs and models. There is even a loving restored wooden carriage. One of the best little museums I have stumbled upon!

Si tratta di un piccolo museo situato all'interno dell'edifico della stazione della metropolitana. E' un modo interessante per trascorrere 15-30 minuti in attesa del prossimo treno. Il museo illustra lo sviluppo del sistema di trasporto pubblico del Pireo di Atene dal tram trainato da cavalli fino al treno elettrico. Ci sono oltre 6000 mostre, tutto dai biglietti, agli scambi, alle apparecchiature di segnalazione, alle apparecchiature per la posa e il taglio delle rotaie, fotografie e modelli. C'è anche una carrozza di legno restaurata amorevole. Contiene alcuni vagoni e accessori legati ai treni elettrici. L'ingresso è gratuito, ma per qualche motivo non è possibile scattare foto, il che riduce l'attrattiva del museo. Tutte le iscrizioni, purtroppo, sono in greco.

Amazing small museum! Great collection of items related with Athens Electrical railway, maintained to pristine condition! A flash back of 200 years of history. Superb collection of anecdotal photographs!.. Highly recommended!!

Στο τέρμα της γραμμής 1, στον Πειραιά υπάρχει ένα ... τέρμα ενδιαφέρον μουσείο που σε ταξιδεύει πάνω στις ράγες του ηλεκτρικού σιδηροδρόμου, του τραμ, αλλά και παλαιότερα: των πράσινων λεωφορείων, της ηλεκτράμαξας και του ατμήλατου συρμού. Δύο αιώνες κοντά ιστορίας μέσα από εκθέματα, κείμενα και φωτογραφίες. Μια ιδιωτική συλλογή βασισμένη στην πρωτοβουλία λίγων ανθρώπων που δούλεψαν πάνω και πλάι στις ράγες διασώζοντας ιστορικά αντικείμενα κυριολεκτικά μέσα απ' τα σκουπίδια... Δυστυχώς φωτογραφίες εντός δεν επιτρέπονται, ωστόσο εμπιστευτείτε με και κάντε μιαν επίσκεψη, αξίζει!
