If I could give more stars - I absolutely would. This property, the staff, the rooms, the food - out of this world.||Arrival: We were a group of 12 adults, 6 couples - taking a much needed, kid-free, relax & party type of vacation. We are all in our early 40s and live life to the fullest. We had a 24 hour journey from NY - so by the time we got to the property, tired was an understatement. From the moment we got out of the transfer car in front of the hotel - the seamlessness began. Before we knew it, our luggage was swept away into the lobby. Once we stepped foot in the lobby - our most favorite Client Services Representative stepped in! Arazona was amazing. She checked in 12 people, before we had a chance to finish our refreshing welcome drinks. She was friendly, funny, informative, pleasant, and very swift in processing 12 people. ||The rooms: We arrived at the hotel around 1:30pm - and were in our rooms by 2pm - allowing us early check-in (which was much needed after traveling for 24 hours.) We all got a personal escort to our room, who gave a personalized tour of the room and explained some of the hotel's amenities. The rooms were beautiful - we had one overlooking the pool with a direct view of the sea. Everything was extremely clean - and I am a picky person when it comes to hotel rooms. The rooms were super high-tech. The space was comfortable and the AC blasting!||The property: Just stunning! Access to the beach is a 1 minute walk through the pool area. There are enough beach loungers for everyone - I was afraid it had to be a 6am wake up call to claim chairs - not at all. Enough space for everyone without once feeling like it was overcrowded. The pool area was extremely clean and had a very relaxing, chill vibe to it. They have a DJ playing on Wed and Sun, 5pm-7pm - very chill and casual - definitely not an untz untz party.||The Breakfast: WOW - I mean just, WOW! Colorful, flavorful, fresh, delicious, and the variety of choices makes you wish you were a bottomless pit that can just keep eating. We recently took a trip to Jamaica in April and compared the breakfast buffet - and my friend said it perfectly, "Jamaica had beige food", exactly what it sounds like in color and taste. Where the food at Nautilux was vibrant in colors and flavors.||Location: Very close to everything. Walking distance to the beachfront promenade with all the cute shops, restaurants, cafes, etc. The supermarket is also a 5 min walk, the other way to wards the street - with the freshest fruit, cold beers/ wine/ prosecco, and all other needs you may have. There are a ton of gyro places and other quick-bite restaurants, all within 5 min walk from the hotel. One of the days we did the Baja Beach Club - there were lack of cabs to come back to the hotel in the evening - so we wound up walking back to the hotel - which was about 25 min walk. Again, everything is very close. Yes, the airport is a little over an hour away - but SOOOOO worth it!||Hospitality: I cannot speak enough about this. Everyone we encountered was SO friendly and welcoming. A lot of it is also the Greek Island culture - but the extra smiles the staff put in, is very noticeable. You feel like you are in a luxurious hotel and you are the main focus of their day. My biggest shout out will of course go to Arazona - throughout our stay, she truly connected with the guests and did it so effortlessly. With dinner suggestions and just giving us a basic look into the Cretan way of life - you can tell she loves what she does. Another note I will make - the night before we left, we came back from dinner, and I stopped by the front desk because my husband lost his wallet in the cab going to dinner. The hotel tried everything they can to be in touch with the dispatcher (unfortunately, the wallet wasn't found) - but I stopped at the front desk to check one last time to see if they heard anything. While I was speaking to the gentleman, Zania walked over and started asking me about our stay, if we can provide feedback, and had general interest on our experience. In the conversation, she asked when we were leaving and I told her, 6am the following morning. Without a single delay, she said "We will have a breakfast-to-go" ready for you and your party by the time you leave. And they surely did. 12 individually packed, mini-cooler lunch boxes with a sandwich, dessert, fruit, water, and a juice. This was the cherry on top of an already incredible hospitality we received. ||Thank you to the Nautilux team for such a fantastic experience - you set the...

Read moreIt is hard to find the words to summarise our experience staying at the Nautilux hotel this year. We have stayed there for the last 3 years running, but this year was the year we came back to get married and brought 50 of our friends and family to stay there too.
This hotel is even more stunning than the pictures suggest. Situated right on the beach and close enough to Rethymno that you can walk into the Old Town in about 30-40 minutes. It’s the first hotel that isn’t on the main road, which is perfect to avoid the noise and cars. From the moment you walk in you’re greeted by the warm smiles of the staff (shout out to Cristina), the divine Nautilux signature scent, the beautiful architecture and a cool flannel to clean your hands after your journey, your shoulders immediately start to relax.
We have stayed in a number of different room types over the years, but this year we experienced a classic room with sea view and a few days in a Nautilux Suite, which was truly outstanding. Sitting on the balcony taking in the view whilst sitting in the hot tub in the evening was breathtaking. All the rooms have fridges, which are refilled with cold water daily and offer a host of special touches such as soft face flannels and make up removers, bathrobes and slippers, heavenly shower products by their bespoke spa brand (which smell utterly gorgeous) and we had a tote bag full of goodies such as sun cream and after sun (best after sun I’ve ever used!), along with their beach towels, which are available to use fresh every day. The only point we could think of for improvement is their lack of drawer space for clothes and the relatively short wardrobes, although they were so helpful and provided an additional clothes rail for my longer dresses and wedding dress.
Every morning we ate at the extensive breakfast buffet. Highlights include coffee to order however you like it, freshly squeezed orange juice, a delicious selection of every type of breakfast offering you could hope for, along with made to order omelettes. Lunch can be ordered from round the pool or on the beach and is equally delicious and the buffet reopens at dinner again with a variety of excellent choices. This year they opened a new a la carte restaurant, which we didn’t get round to trying, but the food looked phenomenal and we will have to come back again soon to sample it.
The absolute highlight of our whole experience however is our interactions with the staff. We have been fortunate to get to know the team over the last few years and they have made our stay better and better every year. They greet us like long lost family whenever we return and open their huge hearts to make us feel like we matter to them as people, not just as guests. I was incredibly anxious and stressed in the lead up to hosting 91 guests, but they made me feel so safe and reassured and like I was in the best possible hands. Christos, who has been there since the start and is now Room Divisions Manager, took me under his wing and made sure my every wobble and need was taken care of, including literally hand delivering my vows to the venue when I forgot them! The guests services team, Zania and Arizana, greeted us with warmth, love and giant hugs every morning at breakfast and throughout the day and Giorgios squared (the best double George combo running the food and beverage team) made sure our every request was catered for. And of course a special shout out to Olina, who goes above and beyond and who has filled our hearts with love every year.
In summary, the Nautilux has our hearts and we cannot thank them enough for making our wedding week the most extraordinary...
