The hotel has both advantages and flaws. I start with the positive sides: the whole hotel is clean, including the beach, the pools, toilets and restaurants; the staff and animation team are very welcoming, helpful and polite; the food is not too salty or spicy, and there is a spice bar with everything possible to add flavors to the meals; the sea view from the upper half of a side building is beautiful.
The disadvantages that we, the parents of 2 kids (5 and 1,5 years old), faced, are as followed: at a family hotel the rooms should be child-friendly. There is no possibility to close the door: there is no lock that could prevent children from leaving the room. As a couple it is manageable. Alone with kids there is no possibility to use the bathroom or to take a shower without worrying that a toddler ran away. We paid for a sea-view room and cannot use our balcony in the evening because we are worried that if a child wakes up and doesn’t find us in the room, it will go out of the room. the sockets are not child-proof; the phone and hair dryer are hanging directly at an eye-level of a toddler; there is no door in the bathroom. We have to keep our toiletries/healthcare products in the wardrobe. We are 4 persons and have only 2 chairs on the balcony; no clothes line to hang wet clothes or towels; there is practically no lunch. For lunch there is a snack bar with sandwiches, chips/ tortilla chips, about 5 salads, 4-5 main dishes (meat and fish), 3-4 side dishes, pizza, finger food, fruit and sweets. Even “healthy” steamed vegetables are often made with butter. Even spaghetti is buttered (why???? Greece is famous for its olive oil!). The most salads are with meat, fish or feta cheese. So vegetarian died is difficult, and vegan is only possible if you are happy eating only fruit. There is even no bread available (only sandwiches). Such a poor lunch is a no-go at a family hotel. plant milk options are only available at breakfast. At a daytime there is no possibility to order a cappuccino with oat or soy milk. Lactose intolerant coffee lovers have to be happy with black coffee or espresso; at dinner very many dishes are very fatty; little spoons are only upon request. Very strange since there are many desserts in little glasses. the staff at the restaurant is not well informed about the ingredients of the food. Our child is highly allergic against pine seeds, and no one could tell us which of the desserts had no pine seeds in it. The same about diary ingredients. We addressed our concerns regarding the meals to the hotel customer service and received a reply that we can ask for a special menu at the restaurant. The thing is that we do not want any special menu. A modern European hotel should keep up with the guests’ preferences and offer a variety of dishes with healthy options. a midnight snack is leftovers of sandwiches from lunch; if something is broken, it takes ages to be fixed. Our shower flushes very slowly; our toilet is leaking; and our key reader recognizes the key only every third time. The cleaning ladies see this daily, and we also informed the reception. Nothing was fixed since 4 days. The big slide is also broken since 3 days and probably won’t be fixed any time soon. there is no bar at the beach. If you are thirsty, you have to go to the nearest pool bar; the entrance into the sea is with many big stones. For non-swimmers it’s a disaster. wi-fi is non-existent in the side building. The good reception was spotted only at a lobby.
This year the prices are double the pre-corona time, and for this price the hotel is not good enough. Maybe as a single traveler or a couple with low expectations from the restaurants or fast food lovers the hotel would be great. For the health-oriented families with young children I would not...
Read moreWe were initially disappointed/not feeling well as we sat in the outside restaurant area for breakfast and dinner and we felt the personal there was exceptionally unfriendly, I have never experienced something like this before in Greece.
But then we sat in the part which is serviced by Emilia. This woman deserves her own category when it comes to rating, absolute goddess. She made as feel extremely comfortable, she even noticed our preferences for drinks in the morning and would prepare them as soon as she sees us sit without us ordering (this is exceptional attention and care) she was exceptionally friendly and we would really miss her, and a very good reason for us to return next year.
I hope that, whoever from the staff of the hotel, reads that shows it to her (Emilia) and other reviews that praise her as she deserves it. Not to mention that her tables were always full.
The rest of the staff in the inside area were also exceptionally friendly.
Reception staff, hospitality staff were always very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are nice and cleaned regularly, our only issues was that the bed was two beds on wheels which kept on drifting apart pretty often. As mentioned in the reviews the prices of drinks at dinner are a bit high.
When it comes to the beach facilities: The beach is really clean A couple of pools and you can also use the facilities of the other Esperos hotels The Lazy River and the Garden area were a very good addition for getting some shade and chill The sea is stony and has cliffs, but because of the vegetation on those cliffs a lot of pretty and different fish can be seen
Entertainment program: We are a young couple and usually we find hotel entertainment programs a bit boring or not targeted at us, but here we sincerely enjoyed the ABBA night and traditional Greek folk dance night
Yoga teacher - Anastasia was really good, which makes me regret not listening to my partner as I went to her only on the last day of our vacation
Food:
The buffet had good variety and different themed nights, but traditional Greek food was always available which is a plus.
Overall we are really happy with our experience and would very...
Read moreRoom: Clean and comfortable. It was cleaned daily. Very nice balcony with amazing view on sea and garden. I highly recommend taking room with sea view, it's worth it even if you are on 2nd floor. One minus is that you hear everything from corridor, if you are light sleeper it may disturb you.
Hotel public area: Clean and good looking. Unfortunately only two lifts which gets very busy. I recommend trying to get the room on 2nd floor because it's still reasonable to go by stairs. If you will get higher floor you will probably have to use the lifts, view might be better from the room but imo it's not worth it.
Hotel placement: There are some shops and water park + bust stop is in front of the hotel. Otherwise nothing interesting. During evening and night there is only animation in the hotel going for an hour. Otherwise nothing.
Pools: Two quite big pools and lazy river. Not crowded with plenty of room to swim. There is no problem with getting sunbeds even around noon.
Private beach: Rocky, both on the beach and in the sea. I highly recommend getting swimming shoes. Plenty of sunbeds. Overall typical beach which you can expect in Rhodes.
Food: Both breakfast and dinner was super tasty. It's imo the highlight of this hotel, I loved it very much. Breakfast was vary similar everyday but that is kinda expected so nothing against it. Dinner had plenty of variety everyday which we very enjoyed. We could teste something new every day. They also have great desserts. However there is one thing I don't understand and which is my reason for giving 4 starts instead of 5. It's paid drinks on the dinner. I understand that alcoholic drinks can be paid, that would be 100% fine. But charging 4 euro for a tea when I already paid for entire dinner is ridiculous. it was your Lipton so cost of a tea is like 0.05 euro? It's even more ridiculous that during breakfast it's for 'free'.
Cocktails: Paid cocktails are great and worth the price. Pina colada is 10/10.
Overall: If you are ok with paying extra for drinks during dinner I recommend this hotel. Sea view is...
