A fabulous stay from arrival to departure. |I tend not to pay too much attention to stars on hotels but would certainly say this one deserves all 5. |We were given a very warm and friendly welcome upon our arrival and given very clear information about the hotel and the facilities by the lovely lady on reception. ||Room ||Our room was on the 5th floor and had an amazing view overlooking the sea and hotel pool. The room was very spacious, clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay with a very large and comfortable bed. There is a good sized fridge that had a few complementary items but also enough room if you wanted to add anything yourself. The room is also well stocked with products for the bathroom. ||Pool||The pool area is very clean, calm and quiet. It is large enough to have a swim or if you just want to dip in to cool down. There are more than enough loungers and Bali beds around the pool that means there is no need to wake up early to secure a decent spot. All the beds were very comfortable and plenty of room to manoeuvre if you need the shade. Every space has a “call button” for bar/lunch service and we never had to wait too long before one of the friendly/attentive staff took our drink order. As it is an “adult only” hotel the general vibe around the pool is very relaxing although sometimes you can hear loud music from the adjacent hotels but it never lasted for too long. There is also a nice little touch from the hotel between 12 and 1 when they come around with cool flannels. They were certainly welcome/needed on the hot days!! ||Beach||The beach is literally a 1 minute walk from the pool area and the hotel has it’s own private area on the beach with plenty of very comfortable beds. These beds also have a “call button” for the same food and drink service which is great. If you like walking along the beach I would recommend some beach shoes as it can be a little stoney in places and also worth getting if you want to have a swim in the sea. If you enjoy snorkelling then I would definitely suggest giving it a go. You only have to swim out about 10-15 meters where you will find some coral and plenty of interesting fish to see. On one of my swims I saw a Flying Gurnard which was amazing! ||Restaurant||The restaurant is a lovely space with wonderful views. Breakfast is a calm experience helped by the staff and good food. There is plenty of variety to choose from the continental style and a decent menu to choose from. The omelettes are a good size and you can ask for any filling/topping of your choice. On some of the days they have some musicians playing music which is a really nice touch and makes the breakfast experience even more special. During our 10 night stay we had dinner in the restaurant quite a lot and tried almost every dish. The food is great quality and portion sizes very good. I would certainly recommend the lamb and ribeye. The staff working in the restaurant were very friendly and looked after us very well. |There is also a nice spacious beach bar which is a great place for lunch. This is available to the public and not just people staying at the hotel. It was a lovely place for lunch and regardless of what time of day always had plenty of tables available in or out the shade. The menu is extensive and has something for most tastes I would suggest. Again, the service is excellent. Be warned that some of the portion sizes for lunch are huge!! This isn’t a complaint, just a tip. ||Gym/Spa||There is a small gym on the 3rd floor that is fully airconditioned and has enough equipment for you to do a decent workout. |We both had a full body massage in the spa on one day and that was excellent. |As in the other areas of the hotel all the staff working in the spa were very friendly and helpful. ||General||We have been fortunate to stay in some lovely hotels across Europe and other countries and would say that this one is right up there for comfort, service and style. The clientele was wide ranging in nationality and age. There were some couples in there early 20’s to some “wiser” more experienced folk who were all enjoying the hotel experience. All the staff are incredibly hard working and friendly. They really do listen to what you want and will try and make sure you have everything you need to enjoy your experience. The only thing I would add is a small bar in the hotel or by the pool. You are given the option of going to the sister hotel with free transfers 24 hours a day but I think it would have been nice to have a bar in the hotel itself for pre/post dinner drinks and place to interact with other...
Read moreI would have honestly given this hotel a 5-star rating hadn’t the incident below occurred. The food is amazing, the views are incredible, the rooms are very spacious, and the team (reception staff, housekeeping and waiters and waitresses) are all very helpful and kind.
During our stay, we had 3 breakfasts. Breakfast runs from 7 am to 11 am. I wake up very early and have a weird appetite. I usually drank a coffee and had a bite at like 8 or 8:30 am, then would go for a walk on the beach, and then come back at around 10 am to either have another coffee and/or breakfast. This was fine, until our final breakfast (on Tuesday). We went in at around 8:30 am had a coffee and an omelette, and decided to venture out for a walk on the beach since it was our last morning. We then said let’s have a waffle (I don’t usually eat sugar) since it’s our last day and head to breakfast at like 10:30 am. The waitress kindly got me a coffee, and I ordered the waffle. While waiting for it, the restaurant manager (Isabella or something) came over and asked “is this your second time at breakfast?, when we said yes, she said “this is normally not allowed”. So I told her do you want us to get up and leave? She said no, so I asked her what is the purpose of your question????? I asked her to get me the hotel manager immediately, and waited but no one arrived. I then went to reception and spoke to the Operations Director who was very kind and acknowledged the mistake that happened.
I’m genuinely disappointed, this completely ruined my last day and honestly cast a shadow over my whole trip and stay at the hotel. Her meaningless question (which has NO purpose) ruined the beauty of this hotel, and made me forgot all the positive things.
At no point were we informed of any time limit or seating rule. If something had been clearly communicated, we would have had no issue complying. It seems the restaurant manager prefers guests to sit from 8 am to 11 am and just keep eating, rather than relax and enjoy their breakfast or just a cup of coffee.
What was most upsetting: no apology, no acknowledgement from the employee involved. Very strange to Greek hospitality and warmth.
This is not how guests should be treated at a 5-star hotel. Extremely unfortunate and disappointing ending to my stay, which review I was looking forward to write.
I also update this review in light of the response below and note that on the morning in question it was our LAST BREAKFAST AND OUR THIRD DAY AT THE HOTEL, meaning that any rule/policy should have been communicated EARLIER to us and not on our last day. There was no courtesy and no professionalism. So please do not justify the incident, again not a 5 star treatment. The operations director knew of the incident when I informed her. Organise your hotel and your policies before justifying your employees’ actions towards guests!!!!! it is very uncommon for 5 start hotels to justify mistreatment of guests on their last day when we have been doing the same thing during all our stay, just acknowledge the mistake of your employee, improve your policy, and move on. Also, what future misunderstanding was the employee avoiding? It was our last breakfast 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Next time (although I will never stay here again - but a note to all future guests), one of us will stay sitting from 7 to 11 am and order everything and keep on wasting food! This apparently is what you want instead of decent people drinking coffee going for a walk and then coming back for a bite!!! So this is noted. I also recommend that you learn from other 5 star hotels how to respond to guests. The ops director knew about the incident and said it was not ok for the rest manager to do that. Pick your side, and...
Read moreI came to this hotel expecting a 5-star experience and a relaxing break from daily life. Unfortunately, it fell far short of that.||The most disappointing part was how we were treated by a staff member (Isabella) during breakfast on our final day. My sister, who had been unwell all week and hadn’t been able to eat, finally felt better so had an omelette and we left for a walk on the beach and went to the toilet 🚽 haha and around an hour later she asked to go back for a small dessert (during breakfast hours). I was super happy she she felt better and wanted to have a dessert. ||10 minutes after we ordered the dessert, Isabella approached us—in front of other guests and in a loud, inappropriate manner—asking if this is our second time here and that we weren’t allowed to return for breakfast more than once. (We asked if we can pay for the dessert or she wanted us to leave? She said no..) we asked for the hotel manager and of course she didn’t get them.. ||This was shocking especially since i have been coming to breakfast several times the past few days (having coffee first, then coming again to order an egg.. and sometimes even a third time if I felt like dessert (some people need to leave to use the toilet before they finish breakfast 🤣). and NOTHING about this supposed policy was communicated until our LAST day (not at check-in or written on the menu or anywhere).. ||The situation was extremely rude and uncalled for. Even if such policy existed, this is not the way to communicate it. ||While we did receive an apology several times from the operations director afterward (when we went to her AS WELL AS a few hours later after she passed by the kitchen to understand the full story).. and we appreciate that she made sure we knew Isabella’s action was not ok and reassured us that guests ARE allowed to have coffee and breakfast, go for a walk and then come back for dessert (in fact they prefer that compared to guests that sit from 7am to 11am at the same table and just keep ordering). We also got another apology at check-out — so I am sure when I say what happened at breakfast was not ok and the hotel knew and apologized for that. | But this whole breakfast interaction left an icky feeling that one shouldn’t feel in a 5 star hotel. ||Beyond that, I believe the hotel is understaffed. Pool service is painfully slow, and you can tell the waiters are exhausted and overworked. They have to walk long distances just to get you a drink and food, and a few even shared their struggles with us. I felt bad placing orders because it clearly put strain on them. Understandably, some orders were forgotten or took ages to arrive. The waiters themselves were kind—they’re just understaffed/overworked. ||I write this review fully aware that the hotel has a habit of responding to criticism in reviews in a defensive and passive-aggressive tone. For example, someone else mentioned the food quality in their review and was told, “Sorry our Michelin-starred restaurant isn’t up to your standards.” That kind of response shows there’s little interest in growth or improvement—just deflection.||So I write this review to anyone considering this hotel: while the the property is clean, this is not a true 5-star experience. I’ve visited many parts of Greece and stayed at genuinely exceptional hotels. Sadly, this wasn’t one of them — and the rest of the low-rated reviews as well as the hotels responses unfortunately...
