Hotel Lymberia in Rhodes turned out to be a major disappointment, despite a few minor positives. Upon arrival, we were welcomed in a friendly manner and received clear information about meal times. The pool is large, the water has a pleasant temperature, and there appeared to be plenty of sunbeds (though that turned out to be misleading – more on that later). Momo, the entertainment staff member, deserves credit: he wasn’t pushy, but brought great energy and atmosphere. The balcony, air conditioning, and beds were all decent. The beach and a supermarket are nearby, which is convenient. And with that, the list of positives more or less ends.||The downsides, however, were numerous and often downright frustrating. The room was very outdated – which could still be tolerable – but the bathroom was a real problem. An old shower curtain from the ’90s, a tiny space, and a shower that constantly overflowed, leaving the entire bathroom soaking wet – every single day. Our room also lacked a drying rack on the balcony, even though other rooms had one.||The photos on the website are incredibly misleading. They paint a completely inaccurate picture of the rooms, especially the bathroom, which wasn’t even shown – leaving us unpleasantly surprised. Features that were advertised, like a sea view, simply didn’t exist. Our room was also located in a noisy area, which made sleeping difficult.||The food was limited in both variety and quality – what started off as “okay” quickly became repetitive. But the biggest disappointment was the drinks. The soft drinks tasted cheap and artificial, and the alcoholic options were terrible: basic vodka or gin mixed with lemonade, with no real flavor or care. For an all-inclusive resort, this is unacceptable.||The pool bar supposedly offers snacks, but in reality, there’s barely anything – maybe a dry sandwich here and there, nothing more. During lunch and dinner, drinks have to be collected outside, while in the morning they are available indoors – confusing and impractical. And don’t bother going to breakfast after 9:30 AM, because there’s virtually nothing left.||The sunbeds by the pool are all reserved early in the morning with towels, so while it looks like there are plenty, it’s nearly impossible to find a free one unless you wake up at the crack of dawn. Some sunbeds were also broken or worn out. Outside seating is severely lacking – we were with a large group and many of us couldn’t even find a place to sit. There simply isn’t enough capacity.||The Wi-Fi is terrible – barely usable even for basic messaging. In this day and age, especially at a vacation resort, that’s completely unacceptable. On top of that, reception charges €10 to rent towels, but you only get €6 back – a strange and unfriendly policy. Speaking of staff: many of them, especially at the bar and buffet, were shockingly unfriendly. Uninterested, rude, and clearly not trained in customer service.||As if all of this wasn’t enough, we were required to check out of our room by 11:00 AM, even though we had an evening flight. This was extremely inconvenient. Our luggage had to be left in an unsupervised room that anyone could walk into. No security, no oversight – it didn’t feel safe at all to leave our belongings there.||Hotel Lymberia presents itself online as a decent all-inclusive resort, but the reality couldn’t be further from the truth. Poor facilities, misleading advertising, subpar service, and daily frustrations. If you’re looking for a relaxing holiday without constant annoyances, you’d be wise to avoid this hotel entirely. What you get is nowhere near what’s promised – and certainly not worth...
Read moreThis "hotel" must be closed. From every point of view, it should receive a rating of minus infinity. We are a family of 50 years old who travels frequently (3 months a year) and stays in both 20 Euro/night studios and 5-star hotels, so we know what any type of accommodation should offer. We booked through Agoda for 2 weeks in July 2023 (enticing price offered by Agoda as VIP Platinum customers; otherwise, it would have been much more expensive), believing it to be a decent hotel but without many expectations. We were bitterly mistaken.
We arrived at the hotel at 11:00 PM, and the owner, who is also the receptionist, threw us across the street to the Diamond Studios, even though we had a reservation at Hotel Lymberia. However, I believe that within a 1 km radius, she has all sorts of accommodations that she labels as "Hotel Lymberia", such as Faliraki Star, Diamond Studio, etc.
The room was clearly a studio, not a hotel room as we had reserved, and the beds and mattresses were over 30 years old. You could only feel comfortable on them if you were a fakir, sleeping on iron springs. Everything in the bathroom was a disaster (and I'm not joking) - the toilet, the shower, the Wi-Fi didn't work (and they admitted to this issue at the reception), the air conditioning was a bad joke... In the morning, we requested a room in the hotel as we had originally booked, not in Diamond Studios. That's when the "circus" began. Of course, we were denied, on the pretext that only "superior" rooms were available there. Why isn't it mentioned in the description that the "non-superior" rooms are located in other buildings under different names (in Faliraki Star, where both laborers and Lymberia's clients are accommodated) and are just dumps? Don't be under any illusion that the superior rooms meet a 3-star standard (you have a good chance of staying in the basement).
As I mentioned above, we travel extensively, and Faliraki is one of our favorite destinations, where we've been coming for 10 years, two weeks each year, and we know all the hotels in Faliraki. I specify this because I know what I'm talking about when I give this "hotel" a rating of minus infinity, as I've seen that there are people who give it a rating of 4 or 5 out of 5 and have no idea what they're talking about.
Coming back, of course, we were refused by the owner, and then we waited for two hours for Agoda's response as we wanted a refund because we were not accommodated at Hotel Lymberia but in other studios. Despite all the evidence we presented (photos we took in the studio), Agoda put us on hold (and I am still "waiting"). The hotel owner told me to leave if I wasn't satisfied and refused to provide a room anymore or refund our money. After two hours with no results, we had to leave and find alternative accommodation because I still had 13 days left to stay. Clearly, I found accommodation on the spot at reasonable prices, places that couldn't be compared to the night of horror spent in that room ("the place could attract the attention of beggar's solicitors," quoting from "The Gift of the Magi" by O. Henry).
The conclusion is that I was stolen from by over 1,000 Euros by the owner of this hotel, even though I had extensive email correspondence with Agoda and her in order to recover my money, as I did not stay at her hotel. Not only was I refused, but I was even threatened with legal action because I accused her of...
Read moreOur experience at Lymberia Hotel was a huge disappointment. We expected good service, good food and a clean room. The first night we got here we had a nasty smell in our room (smelled like sewage) but when we complained, the receptionist said there might be some mold that they don’t know about and we couldn’t change room.
Secondly, the food was okay. There was not a lot of variation and the best thing to eat was pasta. The tzatziki was enjoyed by some but not by many. The dessert was just jelly and mousse (disgusting) and often bland watermelon. The watermelon often tasted like refrigerator.
Not all the sunbeds were adjustably, there were no activities during the weekend, but it said that there would be activities everyday. Momo was the activity leader, and he was amazing!! And the open bar staff was excellent. The total opposite of the reception. They gave information that was not correct multiple times and lacked capability of communicating with eachother, leading to us being scammed with the towels and the taxi. We were told that we had to pay 40 euro for 4 towels but then we would get all the money back, like a deposit. But when we returned our towels at the end of the week, we only got 6 euro back each. The lady in the reception told us that was the rules and that she could not do anything about the miscommunication. If we would have known that beforehand we would not have borrowed those disgusting, moldy, tiny, and unpleasant towels. We could have bought better for 1 euro as a souvenir.
The hotel rooms were on the other side of the street and the pictures of our rooms did not exist. The toilets were horrifying: yellow shower curtain, black and yellow shower head, and the toilet smelled like feces. The ancient air conditioner dripped on the floor and made a huge puddle, and sometimes there was a very loud suspicious noise. In the morning the cleaners knocked one time and then walked right in at 8:30 in the morning when we were sleeping and screamed “hallo!! Hallo!!” and when we asked them to come back in 10 minutes, they never came back. After that the bathroom smelled like sewers again. The bathroom was so small you could barely open the door to get out. The sewage system did not work very well, making the shower foam.
There were only cushions on the chairs in the front bar by the reception and not on the ones by the pool, making it painful to sit down and then stand up. There were barely any snacks by the pool, there were very dry sandwiches and croissants, and the only good snack was mini pizza one time. The water in the open bar had a funny taste most of the days and was only cold in the morning.
To summarise, we are never coming back here and we would never...
