I chose to dine here as they have a separate vegan menu. I was so impressed with the taste of the vegan meat. However I did experience some difficulties. I dined on two separate occasions.
First time (pictured), the staff were very receptive to my dietary requirements (vegan and gluten free) and provided me the vegan souvlaki plate with no pita bread. They offered tzatziki on the side (which I thought was unusual as it is an item on the vegan menu), so my boyfriend who is not vegan ate the tzatziki.
Second time, we had a different waiter and I explained my dietary requirements again. I ordered the gyros plate (off the vegan menu) and confirmed again that there cannot be any gluten. When my food arrived, the vegan meat was sitting on some pita bread and tzatziki. I asked why there was tzatziki on my plate. The waiter told me it’s made from milk. I said I know, I am vegan so I don’t consume milk. She did not seem to know that vegan and vegetarian are different. It was also from the VEGAN menu, so it should not be there anyway! I then repeated that as I am gluten free I cannot eat the bread. She offered to take the bread away and I explained how that is not okay as it has contaminated the dish. I had to get the staff to remake the plate entirely. I waited another 10 minutes while my boyfriend already had his food. I was really disappointed by this.
All staff need to be educated on vegan food and gluten free awareness. I am so fortunate that I was able to spot these ingredients. If it was hidden in a sauce for example, I would not have known and I would have...
Read moreThe best pita gyros in Faliraki that we tried. The place is homely and welcoming, all the staff is very kind and happy to greet you. They have the usual Greek selection of dishes from starters to souvlaki, gyros, kebab, sausage etc.
We took only 2 pita gyros. One chicken and one pork. The taste of the meat was excellent, not too fatty and the other ingredients were tasteful. I would say the meat in my pita (pork) could have been slightly crispier and moister. At the end of the pita it started to get a bit dry which I think shouldn’t be the case.
Price is excellent at around €3.50 a pita. In the rest of Greece this is quite high but in Faliraki, I believe it’s the cheapest option as most places sell pita for €4.
Overall, best in Faliraki and second best on the...
Read moreWe absolutely love Village Taste! Without a doubt, it’s the best food we've had in Faliraki—delicious, authentic, and incredibly well-priced. The Gyros, Halloumi, Souvlaki, and Village Sausage are simply out of this world! We were so impressed during our visit last year that we asked Smaro and the amazing team to cater for our wedding—and they absolutely delivered! Every dish was a hit, and we received countless compliments from our guests. We even squeezed in one last feast at the end of our holiday before flying back to England—it’s that good! A massive thank you to the whole team for making our special day even more memorable. We can't wait to return for another round of...
