This was our second time at this hotel and we are booked again for this September 2024. We really like it.||Some of the staff recognised us from a couple of years before. Both times we arived at night, the night porter checked us in, he was proffesional and gave us directions to rooms, we did not feel anything else was required.||The rooms are good, sure the odd bug but its Greece, your going to get that because of the climate.||Rooms are clean and the domestic staff who do this are freindly and work hard.||Speaking of which the barman who also works in the dining room works extremely hard as do all the other staff from observation and expereince. The food is decent and whilst the menu does not vary hugely it is good quality and normal for any all inclusive holiday.||Regarding the watered down drinks thing. You can definitly tell when spirits are watered down and I have had it with 2 or 3 drinks there only in two trips. I am not concerned about it, whatever happened it was 2- 3 drinks out of all the others lol that were definitly not and i have spent a total of four weeks there over two trips. perhaps a bad supplier batch? i have had it in tenerife too many times, its just something that happens occasionally, it is not some endemic problem at this hotel.||Clientel is a mix, German perhaps 60 per cent, hard to quantify, both trips there was plenty of British people. It attracts a few families but more couples and they tend to be mature individuals upper twenties, thirties and upwards.||I found everyone to be polite and know how to behave, the hotel does not attract loud teens/twenties etc which is fine with us.I have never felt out of place? Germans love Greece too!||Bus services good to Rhodes town, Faliraki not so great, i'd reccomend taxis as bus seervices can be erratic. I encountered a family of Germans being picked up in a small village where the scheduled bus service had clearly not come and theyd been in the sun a bit long, so for rural Rhodes always be aware of this. Returning from Lindos can be busy at end of day, I'd try and prebook a taxi rather than rely on buses from Lindos late afternoon.||As i said we are returning to this same hotel for our 3rd visit on Sept15th/ 16th 2024, cant wait, we love it and have good memories there in a lovely peaceful hotel that suits us both down to the ground, ( we are late 40s) and apprecate the quiet and relaxed atmosphere. it is a well run , family run hotel that they take pride in. We return because its excellent and welcoming.||Kolymbia is nice and safe for a walk in the evening, we enjoy that though its quite spread out and is a decent enough walk to the high street/central business/shopping district 20-25 mins. Local shops closer by where you can get anything you need including a pharmacy.||Going first time, its always a bit of pot luck reading reviews, you get good and bad depending on individual expectations. But as a now regular here i would completely reccomend it, thats...
Read moreTo call this a 4* resort, has to be the biggest con going! The worst all.inc stay I've been too. * Food/drinks- pretty awful. Yes there is choice, but when it's made with such low quality ingredients it doesn't up the anti much! Also for the love of God, please stop re-heating yesterdays left overs, it doesnt taste great & I'm sure its not good food hygiene 🤷🏼♀️ The drinks were made fresh right in front of us, but the use of such cheap mixers made everything taste awful! * Rooms- small & old-fashioned. We stayed in the standard room, which consisted of 2 single camp beds pushed together with 1 paper-thin pillow each. An aircon machine attached to the wall with no remote, a safe we couldn't close, and TV available with 2 English news stations, and of course no wi-fi. We later found out that the wifi, safe etc are to be hired from reception at a cost (NOTE: reception didnt tell us anything when checking in!) Although VERY basic, the rooms & hotel are spotlessly clean, so that was a saving grace!Staff- mixed bag. Flat out the reception staff are the rudest people you'll meet ( 2 females, curly hair) Felt like being checked into prison rather than a room. Not a smile or hello the whole week, so of course no interaction when we checked out either. The waiting & bar staff aren't much better, but the occasional smile did happen. That said, the week we stayed, the same staff were there all day, every day. So at least 7 days working 14-15 hour shifts, anyone would be grumpy!!Hotel- no atmosphere. Meal times were an especially depressing affair, not just caused by the low quality food but the actual meal settings. Everyone piling into an artificially lit, community centre hall with no fresh air (nobody was allowed to eat on the pool bar terrace) Most of the time no music or if there was it was the same Greek CD you'd heard 85 times at the pool bar. Waiting staff walking around collecting plates and scraping food remains into a slop bucket in front of you 🤢 No entertainment at all! People had actually brought playing cards to help the evenings pass (back to feeling like a prison again!) . How much would it realistically cost to get a cover singer or dance act etc in for an hour or two? Finally, although in no way the hotels fault, the other guests were just very odd. My boyfriend & I were stared at for 7 days solidly, in the pool, on the sunbeds, at the bar. It left us feeling very uncomfortable but also just baffled as to why. We were happiest out of the hotel. The saving graces of the hotel were its stunning views of the mountains, the cleanliness and the pool/pool area. Sadly this isn't enough to save what was a pretty poor experience! Really just avoid...
Read moreWe arrived at Marianna Palace Hotel late at night and were instantly greeted by a gentlemen with complimentary snacks. I myself have been to Greece many times and unfortunately this hotel ruined the experience for me. It is advertised as a 4 star hotel, which in my opinion and many others, is it not. We paid for all-inclusive but spent 6 out of the 7 nights spent eating out at the lovely Star Bar (around 3 min walk from hotel) due to just the quality of food at the hotel. You have a selection of meat and chips, or pasta. For desert you have the choice of ice cream or some sort of soggy cake. Personally, definitely not up to any sort of previous all-inclusive standards. A lot of the food was also lukewarm and if you weren’t there on time you were likely to get a rubbish meal. Drinks were also insanely sugary, and everything was off brand. ||There is also little to no entertainment at this hotel. There was 1 night of the week where there was some sort of music night and folk were shouting until midnight, however other than that it was boring, and quiet, and the most interesting thing you could do is sit by the pool. That is, if you get a sun lounger. Every lounger was snatched up by 7am and would have beach towels laying over them - however no people for most of the day. This made trying to genuinely enjoy your time at the hotel near enough impossible. ||The bar which is open from 11am - Midnight was genuinely really good, and the staff were lovely. Good selection of drinks and very generous sizing for portions. ||The already very small and inconvenient elevator is a severe safety hazard as the doors do not have a sensor to when somebody is walking through them - and myself and my partner were hit multiple times by the doors.||Rooms were cleaned everyday but at a cost. Money had went missing from our rooms which was put near our personal belongings and seemingly out of sight. Cleaners would be up at very early hours of the morning shouting and laughing right outside your room, along with strange bangs heard throughout the week - one which even opened our room door by itself. The WiFi given by the hotel does not work unless you are sat directly in reception.||Staff at reception and in general were however very polite, as stated upon welcome we were greeted with complimentary snacks and shown right up to our room. ||With all mentioned, personally, I wouldn’t be back here. We paid almost £2000 for a week here and as somebody who’s been to Greece several times before, it is simply not worth it. It is a place if you want a roof over your head when staying here - however if you are looking for a resort to stay in with your family, relax and keep the kids entertained, I would steer clear of...
