I have been a guest at the Oasis for over 25 years and am still a regular. The reasons why I keep returning are many. Here they are, in no particular order:||||- Location: To me, there is simply no place I'd rather be. It is so very quiet here, one mainly only hears the ocean waves lapping onto the beach. The view from all of the upper apartments is gorgeous with completely unobstructed sea views. They have small balconies equipped with chairs and tables to enjoy it. The apartments on the lower floors look out toward the ocean as well but are more hidden away in the greenery (which makes for more shade, not a small advantage in the hot summer months). At night one can see countless stars in the sky - for me who lives in the city this is an especially wonderful treat.||- The apartments are all very clean and well kept. Each one has a kitchen with all the necessities, including an oven, stove, sink and fridge. Utensils as well as flatware and plates, etc. are also sufficiently supplied. Practical: Each apartment also has a laundry rack to hang your wet swimwear if needed.||- The bedrooms are air-conditioned, and those units are well-maintained, i.e. they don't rattle or are otherwise noisy (a huge plus in my book because I am easily disturbed by noisy air condition units). The beds feature practical mosquito netting.||- The small bathrooms have showers and are kept immaculately clean, something that is very important to me as well.||- All upper apartments have separate entrances with gorgeous bougainvilleas growing between them and beautiful blue doors, contrasting so nicely with the white-washed walls of the building (see uploaded images).||- The sandy beach is literally a few hundred yards/meters away and there are no roads to cross in-between - it is simply a path leading through nature and I have never seen the beach over-crowded either. ||- Lastly, there is the adjoining, excellent Oasis tavern which serves fabulous Cretan cuisine but also breakfast with good, strong Greek coffee (or cappuccino, espresso...) - it doesn't get anymore convenient than that.||||The Oasis always has been an excellent value for the money. The place is great for families on a budget, small children but also couples seeking a quiet, relaxing vacation. One can either self-cater or eat out at the Oasis tavern or one of the many other taverns around. I recommend this...
Read moreOasis is a family owned apartment hotel located right by the sea side. The closest beach is 50 m away, another one is 200m, and more are to be found in the short driving distance. Closest beach is enormous, and there are very few people on it even in the high season, so it is a great choice if you want to quietly enjoy the nature. Oasis is a very quiet hotel, surrounded by a beautiful green garden, all the rooms have breathtaking sea view. All the terraces are faced towards west, so it is nice cool in the morning there - perfect for enjoying a quiet breakfast and at the same time watching the sunset in the evening. Apartments are very clean, well equipped - including kitchen. Owners is a very friendly couple, they offer true hospitality. They have helped us arranging late check in, recommended places to visit around, also beaches to visit on the windy days, gave us some local specialties as presents and helped us in all big and small matters. They have also recommended us taking a private tourist boat trip with a local fisherman, which was just fantastic. |As a family with kids we require using a washing machine often and Oasis offered this service, so it is a huge plus for us. We have rented a family apartment with 2 rooms. There is an air condition in the bedroom and fan in the kitchen/living room. You can ask for additional beds and baby cot if required. Apartment was cleaned every day and bed sheets and towels were changed every second day. |In the same building with apartments there is a taverna offering fantastic local cuisine for reasonable prices, also owned by the same family. Their food is home made and delicious. In front of the apartments there is also a cafe with amazing pastry which is hard to resist. There are also many other restaurants and several grocery shops in the village. Closest supermarket is 200 m away.|Frangocastello is a very small and quiet village, without night life and lots of tourists. Driving there from Chania is challenging because there is no highway, only roads through mountains. But if you are willing to take this ride, you will find a perfect getaway from the noise and rashness. |Having a rented car is preferable in Frangocastello becase it will open possibilities to see the...
Read moreThe Oasis Apartments at Frangokastello are just that.... an oasis!! Set in a lush garden landscape, just a 3 minute stroll from a wide beach, it offers peace and quiet, with unhindered vistas out over the Mediterranean to the south, east, and west, and to the Certain Lefka Ori (White Mountains -- 2,453 m) to the north.
Hosts Giannis and Irini look after your wellbeing, with kindness and respect. Their attention to detail is impressive, and reflects on the organisation and cleanliness of the rooms. Everything you may need is available, carefully ordered for the guest to find.
The rooms are simple; nothing OTT. My room had a spacious terrace, where I was able to sit and watch the sun sink into the sea.
The prices are reasonable. I was there out of season, but I feel most rooms were occupied.
