We couldn’t tell if we were being treated kindly or simply seen as the least valuable guests—so we filmed this video to show the room we were given. As travelers unfamiliar with Crete, we didn’t know when booking that Loutra isn’t accessible by land. We paid €77 for one night’s accommodation, plus €32 for the ferry. Unfortunately, no one warned us that it’s possible to cross by boat for just €10 round-trip per person instead of taking the ferry. The room we stayed in was about 15 m². The bathroom was so small that even someone with a size 38 frame could barely move. There was no towel rack, nor a stand to hang the showerhead—and on top of that, the Wi-Fi didn’t work at all. Although there was WiFi there wasn't enough signal strength to pick WiFi up in the bedrooms||6. Although there was tb in the bedroom the signal strength was weak and wouldn't pick up any channels||7. We had confusion over payment for the three rooms with the owner who tried to charge different for one of the rooms than booking.com stated||8. Their card machine wasn't working so they wanted cash payments and didn't...

Barely cracked a smile while shoving a key at us and saying room number. We were left to find the room alone - navigating more flights of stairs. One of our party was 71 and some assistance would have been appreciated. ||Asked about safe and were told to collect a key. No one mentioned I then had to insert batteries and programme it from scratch. ||Checking out was done without a smile, enquiry as to whether we had enjoyed our stay, or a thank you.||36 years in Greece and never have we experienced such...
