We've recently come back from a 7 day holiday to Marillia. We went to celebrate our anniversary so happened to be child-free. I contacted the hotel prior to our visit to inform them that we would have a late check-in. The hotel got back to us right away to inform us that there would be instructions on the window about check-in and finding our room. When we arrived, the instructions were on the window as mentioned and finding our room was very easy. They even left us a welcome drink in the fridge. We were initially in a comfort room for the first 2 nights. The room was clean and comfortable and steps away from the pool and bar. We did not experience any noise at night. The air conditioning works very well. Our safe was acting up but George came out right away and sorted this with new batteries. Breakfast was lovely and fresh and there was always a variety. Tolis was always there in the morning making sure the guests were fed and his food was gorgeous! You cant drink the tap water, so you will need to get bottles of water from the bar. Brisilda will be waiting there for you with a beautiful smile to help you. Good cocktail menu. Try the Yellow Donkey beer or Blue Money-brewed in Santori! The pool is clean and loungers comfy-no need to reserve, always one available. During our first day it felt like we had gate-crashed someone's family barbeque as it seemed that a majority of the guests new each other and we were the unwelcome relatives (not a reflection on the hotel at all). When I enquired about this, we were told there was a wedding party. At this point, we asked whether a private pool room was available and Vasilis was so friendly and willing to help, we were offered an upgrade with a discount as they had a room available for the remaining 5 days of our stay. Nothing was too much trouble and Vasilis made sure we knew when our room was ready, showed us personally to the room to make sure everything was ok. In the new room, we had some little homemade biscuits waiting for us. I have to say, the room upgrade was totally worth it! The location was private and quiet, the pool was amazing. Big enough for both my husband and I to have an inflatable lounger and not feel cramped. There is also a lovely shaded double sunbed next to the pool. Housekeeping was stealthy. Management would communicate with them when your room was empty so they would go in and clean. There was a security camera right outside our room, (and dotted all over the hotel), so felt secure, but not that our privacy was compromised. We were so relaxed that for the most part we did not feel the need to venture out much. Which is unusual, as we normally like to go out and explore. We did arrange for a sunset cruise with Caldera Yachting and George took care of the reservations. We also went to Fira for a day. The bus was easy to catch down by the beach (only 15 minutes late) but we had seats and it was air conditioned. You pay on the bus-cheap! 2.50 euro each. It was a local bus so took about 50 mins to Fira. It was a nice way to see some of the island. Ate lunch in Fira at a lovely restaurant called To Briki with a great view of the caldera and very fresh salads. We visited the Museum of Prehistoric Thera. It was just big enough to spend about 1-1.5 hours in nice air-conditioning and see some of the artifacts that have been collected. The frescoes are fab! Caught the bus back around 3. On time, express bus, had us back at the hotel in 20 mins! We ate many of our lunches or dinners from the hotel. Tolis made everything fresh. Best Greek salads! He put marinated caper leaves in the salad, it was delicious! Brisilda was there with some great conversation and Vasilis ensured everything was running smoothly. In the evening Nikos took over the bar and was friendly and there was another chef that took over (and Im sorry I didnt catch his name). We ate out one night at a restaurant called The Nets and the meal was lovely and fresh. The beach bars seemed a bit empty. I enquired about the price of sunbeds at several bars and felt it was a bit of a rip off. At some of them there was even a minimum spend along with the price of the sunbed. I didnt find one that was free as long as you order drinks or food. If you want to eat out the hotel is very convenient to walk down into town and find a restaurant. We were quite happy to eat in as the prices were good and I knew the food was fresh. The whole team worked so well together, I felt like we were on holiday with old friends. The staff work so hard and do it with smiles and a warm friendliness that made our holiday (and anniversary!) so special. If you want a relaxing holiday in a part of the island that isn't as crowded as Fira or Oia and have the option to have a day trip out, this is the hotel to be at. The staff make the hotel special. Thank you George, Vasilis, Tolis, Brisilda, Nikos, and other chef that I didnt catch his name! (oh and watch out, the Ouzo is a...
Read moreHotel |We have just got back from a week in Marillia Village in Santorini for our honeymoon and had a lovely time staying at the hotel. |We upgraded to a split level room would recommend the upgrade, nice and spacious for two people, comfy bed, sofa and large bathroom with a powerful shower. Two aircon units in the room (one on each level) which are really efficient, I had to keep turning it off it was so cold (a good problem to have).|The hotel is super beautiful very aesthetic, immaculately clean, lovely friendly staff and good breakfast each morning. Good food options throughout the day, recommend the milkshakes, ceasar salad and toasties! Pool is a good temperature and always managed to find a sun lounger - however caution with the pool and wearing white or having blonde hair- it turns them green!|The hotel is very peaceful and quiet, which is what we were looking for compared to the busier parts of Santorini, we found we needed to go out on an evening to keep occupied though. ||Santorini|Restaurants on the beach front nearby are on the expensive side but if you look around there are plenty of traditional Greek places that are reasonable prices. ||Food Recommendations: |- Nearby restaurants such as IFrati, Seaside Santorini, Forty one all nice (but higher price points) |- Nearby traditional Greek - Fish Tavern is local and more authentic Greek, good value for money and can’t do enough for you (great fish and other options too) |- Pygros - the most stunning restaurant in Pyrgos called Pygros Restaurant WOW , and really reasonable prices too! (It’s a wedding venue and very beautiful)|- Oia - Aspa Restaurant, it’s a hotel with the best spot on the island for the sunset, feels really exclusive and like we won the Jackpot, only two other tables of people and the most amazing food and view! Reasonably priced for stunning food 10/10 recommend (Favourite moment of the whole trip) ||Transport |Buses, we like to use public transport when we go away, would say the buses have been hit and miss… and for info you have to get on and go up to Perissa, and then onto Firá. |The bus stop just outside the hotel seems to only come every 3-4 hours, would reccomend walking down the beach to “Perivolos Beach” bus stop about 5 minute walk, much more frequent and usually managed to get on the Firá express which is much quicker, again found the timings off compared to the timetable here but they are much more regular and never waited more than 5 mins. |Buses are usually 2.50 euros each. |On the way back was more challenging, they only seem to stop at “Perivolos Beach” during the day/early evening, and at night only stopping at “Perivolos Crossroads”, which although is 0.8 miles away and 15 minute walk, it’s down the outback of Greece, no paths no lights and oncoming traffic… taxis seem to be 30euros ish from Firá to Marillia village, maybe a better option on the way back although we did do the walk 3-4 times with a phone torch on. ||Trips |Recommend day trips into Fira and Oia, easily done using the local buses.|Sunset Oia catamaran cruise, free bar and lovely food - highly recommended and they pick and drop off...

We stayed in a "comfort room with garden view" which was very spacious, perhaps could have done with a little bit more clothes storage more for trousers and underwear etc and a dressing table for the ladies. Shower pressure was immense so big thumbs up there. Rooms made daily, not sure how often bedding is changed though.||Food|The breakfast was pretty good, selection of hot and continental options with lovely pastries and homemade jams etc. Breakfast open 7-10:30 i believe. Lunch and dinner is available to order at the bar and has the same menu for both. All portions were huge, especially for lunch so we usually just had 1 plate between us for lunch. See photos for prices. The food ordered at the bar was so delicious, especially the gyros and chicken burger, the day chef really does a lovely job.| |Service|All of the staff were lovely and helpful. The barman Spiros made our holiday, every evening we came back after dinner out we looked forward to seeing him and having a chat. He made excellent cocktail and just had the nicest smile and welcoming nature. He will always make sure if you order a drink that you have a little bowl of salted crisps which he will say "something salty for the alcohol". ||Other|No issues getting a lounger, towels provided for the pool in rooms.||The hotel can organize quad/scooter/buggy/car hire for you but we had an underwhelming experience as we asked at the beginning of the week about hiring a quad bike and scooter during our stay, the buggy we were told didn't exist and then asked to book another one only to be told the day before we planned to use it that it wasn't available. Did seem like either the company they used or the hotel dropped the ball tbh. But the hotel across the way seemed to have lots of vehicles with the same company logo on them so maybe see who they hire with and go direct||There's plenty of restaurants along the beach within 10 minute walk or so, we seriously recommend Tera nera, it doesn't look like anything special but the food is so affordable compared to say forty-one or I Afriti and its actually so tasty! especially...
