An Unforgettable Stay at Onyx Hotel and Suites in Santorini

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Onyx Hotel and Suites in Santorini for a family wedding, and it was an experience that we will cherish forever. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and exceptional hospitality by the friendly owner, Katia, and her amazing team. This small boutique hotel truly went above and beyond to make our stay extraordinary.

From the very beginning, Katia was an absolute gem. Her communication was impeccable, and she was incredibly flexible and accommodating. She went out of her way to ensure that all 30+ of our guests felt welcomed and at home. Even late at night, when some of our guests managed to lock themselves out of their rooms, Katia personally came to the rescue, never once complaining. Her kindness and warmth truly set the tone for our entire stay.

One of the standout moments was when Katia generously gifted us the breakfast area for a family Thanksgiving service for the wedding. With no other available spaces to hire externally, this act of generosity was unexpected but deeply appreciated. She didn't have to do this, but her genuine care for her guests shone through, making our family event all the more special.

The staff at Onyx Hotel and Suites were equally impressive. Tamta and Konstatina, who worked at the reception, were always there with a smile and a willingness to help. No request was too big or too small for them. I even had an issue with my shower, and within minutes, they had it replaced! Tamta's patience and professionalism, even with a large group like ours, were truly commendable.

The hotel's decor is simple, stylish, and modern, with minimal wear and tear. We were pleasantly surprised by the spacious and comfortable rooms, which provided a perfect retreat after the day's festivities.

While the hotel doesn't serve lunch or dinner, the team at the reception was more than happy to order food for us from local restaurants for delivery. This thoughtful service made dining incredibly convenient.

We stayed here for 4 of our 7 nights in Santorini. Maria greeted us with the biggest smile and made us feel immediately at home. We spoke a few times before we arrived to ask her if she could arrange an airport transfer and book us a table for dinner, as we were quite late landing. Our airport transfer was waiting for us as soon as we got through the airport and Maria had confirmed our table was booked. She kindly explained to us the places to visit whilst we were there, and throughout our stay Maria and Denisa acted as our private concierge, booking boat trips, quad bike rentals and taxis.

The room we booked (suite with outdoor hot tub) was impeccably clean, with nice subtle touches of the Santorini island (exposed white brick in 2 rooms). There was a lovely large sofa and decent sized bathroom with large shower area. The balcony with the hot tub was just as good as we had hoped, overlooking the pool but also feeling quite private. The bedroom was a really good size, with iron and smart tv provided.

The location was very good, but as expected, a good 25 minute walk from Fira. This was fine for us though, as we were aware of this when booking and was a really nice base, as it felt like we were coming "home" from the hustle and bustle of the busier tourist parts.

The breakfast was good, including the tastiest croissants. We're big coffee drinkers and thought the coffee included with breakfast was a really good flavour and strength.

Whereas Onyx won't offer you the Caldera view or really close proximity to the main spots on the island, if you're looking for a reasonably priced hotel, it will ensure you have a stylish and very clean room, hot tub, sea view (looking south) and amazing customer service.

Finally, it's important to say that the highlight of the hotel really is Maria and Denisa. They are both a huge asset to the hotel owners and made us look forward to coming back to the hotel again, whilst feeling really comfortable and excited to explore the island with their help when booking restaurants, trips and quad bike rental. If we don't stay again due to us exploring other areas of the island, we will absolutely be popping in to say "hello"!

In terms of service, the staff at Onyx Hotel are exceptional. They're not just friendly—they're also extremely well-trained, handling every request promptly and efficiently. This level of service truly made my stay seamless and worry-free.

The breakfast is a gastronomic delight with a great variety. Whether you're a fan of a hearty English breakfast or a more Mediterranean style, the Onyx Hotel has you covered. The quality and freshness of the food is consistently high, starting each day off on a great note.

Location-wise, the Onyx Hotel couldn't be more convenient. It's situated a short distance from the airport and is perfectly positioned close to the center of Fira, allowing guests to explore the vibrant city life and local attractions with ease.

Lastly, I'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Tamta. Her warm hospitality, attention to detail, and exceptional service added a personal touch to my stay, making it even more memorable.
