Nicolas Rooms — Hotel in Sami Municipality

I really did not want to leave a bad review, as the staff here are lovely, especially Nicolas’ son. However they need to make some improvements to this hotel. |The rooms are very dated, but the same as photos so can’t complain too much, however the rooms smelt very old and foisty so they need a good freshen up. The bed is also very hard.|The main issue for us was the poor soundproofing, being pregnant at the time I was really hoping to get a good sleep, but the room next to us had guests that returned to their room all at different times, 2am, 3am, 4am and each time all very drunk and swearing and screaming words I wouldn’t want to repeat. It was actually quite scary one night as one male was getting so angry that he couldn’t get in the room as his friend had the key. I told Nicolas’s son the next day who explained they were wedding guests and staying the next night too like us. |The next night the guests weren’t as bad but our room was directly above the kitchen and the staff were moving tables/chairs and banging all the plates etc still at 1am so again I could not sleep and woke up when the guests came back. The first night I slept for about 2 hours so after the second night I could not wait to leave to get a good sleep. |We also ate at the restaurant and I’m really sad to say the food was not nice, my Husband ordered Moussaka and it must have been left on the side ages or reheated as all the top layer that should be cheese had curdled, we didn’t want to make a fuss so we didn’t eat most of it and then went into Fiskardo after to eat.|Overall the hotel is in a great location, has amazing views, lovely family staff but the soundproofing and food let it...

Great view across harbor to waterfront from room and private balcony. Clothes line on balcony. Comfortable room with night stands and receptacles by the stands. Desk with drawers and comfortable chair. Large cold refrigerator with freezer for making ice cubes. Power strip on top of refrigerator for extra receptacles. Nice bathroom with shelf for products. Reliable Wi-Fi at 7+ Mbps. Such a wonderful, friendly and helpful owner. He carried our luggage up to the second floor. He was always cheerful every time we asked him things about the hotel and town. Good value. There is a short walk to the old Venetian lighthouse and on the way there are some rocks to swim from in sparkling clear water. Great fun watching ferries come and go and sailboats coming in at the evening to moor all around the harbor. We did not take breakfast there since it started at 9:00AM which was too late for us. We walked 5 minutes into town to cafes open at 8:00AM. Nor did we eat at the restaurant since it was closed between 3:00PM and 7:00PM when we like to eat. The menu did look good at reasonable prices. I would not stay any place else when we return...

Writing this review is difficult for me. Nicolas and his sons are running a wonderful family enterprise with a great restaurant in wonderful Fiskardo. Unfortunately the room we rented from them was a disaster. Squeezed in the attic the room has low ceilings, one is constatly banging heads into the low rafters, but even worse, there is no thermal insulation or soundproofing to the room next door. The room was boiling when we arrived and even with the A/C running for hours it was not possible to cool the room to a temperatre allowing sleep. Even worse, the total lack of soundproofing between rooms 5 and 6 kept us from sleeping, we had some very noisy neighbors.||The rooms 1 - 4 should be OK.
