La Piscine Art Hotel — Hotel in Skiathos Municipality

Unfortunately, the hotel fell significantly short of the standards expected from a 5-star establishment. This misrepresentation not only diminished the quality of my holiday but also resulted in an unjustified tourism tax charge of €150 — a fee applicable only to verified 5-star accommodations.

This unexpected expense had a direct impact on our holiday plans. We had budgeted carefully for activities and excursions, and the €150 charge forced us to cancel several experiences we had looked forward to. It was deeply frustrating to sacrifice parts of our itinerary due to a cost that should never have applied in the first place.

Several aspects of the hotel were clearly below the expected standard:

Shared Balcony: A lack of privacy due to shared balcony access is unacceptable in a hotel of this supposed calibre.

Aging Room Facilities: The room was visibly dated, with rust in the shower tray, an out dated television.

Poor General Maintenance: Numerous areas of the hotel showed signs of neglect. Around the pool area, there were broken fixtures and surfaces, and the artificial grass was shabby and worn, detracting from the overall appearance and comfort of the space.

On the plus side, I would like to acknowledge that the staff were excellent — consistently polite, professional, and helpful throughout my stay. Their service was a redeeming feature in an otherwise disappointing experience. Excellent pool and location.

These issues collectively paint a picture of a hotel that is misrepresented in promotional materials and does not warrant its 5-star...

Pros: Upon arrival we were provided a room upgrade which was nice. Bed comfortable. Good AC in room and large bathroom with lots of amenities provided. Hotel provided a complimentary bottle of wine and two greek treats which was nice. WiFi in room is good. Breakfast OK but some of the food looked like it was cooked the night before then reheated and was pretty soggy. Good range of cakes. Breakfast Juice not great.

Cons: Views are non existent. Hotel located at the back of Skiathos town in a horrible location opposite a smelly fish market shop which is on a noisy road with lots of cars and motorbikes. As soon as we arrived we thought about leaving and booking a room elsewhere!Room 120 faces onto an average garden that is poorly maintained but better than facing onto pool which would be noisy from patrons of restaurant and bar. Can also hear road traffic from room. Terrible location far away from action of town and needing to take dodgy streets to get to and from town. Safe in room is tiny and you need to ask reception for a key. Curtains aren't blackout and barely covers the window extent so light comes in early. Room contains lots of furniture so hard to find places to open up two large suitcases. Inadequate number of sunbeds by pool for size of hotel so can't really use pool. Staff do an adequate job but don't go out of their way to provide personalised service or take an interest in guests. No gym provided which is standard for a supposedly 5 star hotel. This is definitely not a 5 star hotel (as advertised), with it being closer to 3.5 stars...

Over the last 15 years, we have visited Skiathos numerous times, always staying at La Piscine, the top of the island hotel with wow factor.|Sadly, we now feel that several improvements are required to justify a 5* rating.|The following, in particular, should be rectified. |Hairdryers require upgrading, holding an extremely hot tube is far from suitable. |Broken, uneven tiles around the pool area is dangerous.|Toilet in pool area has no lock facility.|Broken pieces on the steps entering the hotel certainly do not make you feel you're entering a 5* establishment. Even small changes or additions to the front of the hotel entrance would improve the appearance to 5* The same could be said for new 'Art' additions.|Delux rooms are not all the same. We booked 2 rooms, 1 was fine but the other was far from delux. The second room (302)was much smaller with a balcony overlooking a yard of building materials. When we explained our disappointment to reception we received a cold, negative response, again not 5* handling!|I would like to end with positive feedback |Hotel in great position for town, which we love. and airport .|Housekeeping is always of a high standard. |Bar staff and waiters are always friendly. |A great addition to have a chef at breakfast to prepare egg dishes at your request.||Finally, we love Skiathos and do want to return to La Piscine, please, can we see that wow factor and quality...
