Pansion Matoula — Hotel in Skiathos Municipality

Great location, at the private yacht end of the harbour, just off the main street, only 5 rooms above the owners accommodation but not at all intrusive. ||||This is our 6th visit over 20 yeas and we know the island well. This was our first visit to Matoula.||||Although accommodation is basic its more than adequate for Skiathos as you are not in your room much at all, and it was spotlessly clean. The owner doesn't speak much English, but is good enough to pick up and drop off from and to the airport, left food for us if she had cooked. Bath and hand towels provided and great wifi. Small kitchenette, kettle but no cooking facilities, but lots of crockery and cutlery provided if making a sandwich. Fridge provided. Small bathroom with handheld shower, plenty of hot water.||||Use of the nearby Tennis club pool 50m away which is lovely and is open from 9am, til midnight and serves great food.||||2 mins from the bus terminus to get all around the south of the island and a few minutes walk from the other end of the harbour to pick up a water taxi to some of the beaches and of course the main town with lots of bars, restuarants and shops. ||||Lots of tavernas on the doorstep of the Matoula as well, in a very quiet area, and the balconies are set out in a way that if your neighbours are sat out it is still very private and they are not immediately next to you.||||Madame Matoula was downstairs and was there if you needed anything, apart from paying on the final few days and agreeing a departure time we have no need to bother her. She was very considerate and on one night when a storm was brewing and we were out she popped up to move our towels etc so they didn't blow away||||Wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Within minutes of booking we were contacted by Madam Matoula offering us transport from the airport. We were also asked if we would like twin or double beds! Great service. |We were greeted at the airport with a big smile and welcome! |The Apartments are in a fabulous location well placed to explore Skiathos Town and a fabulous fish restaurant on the doorstep called Bakiliko. |Our room was large and well equipped with everything we needed and also had a really large balcony. Spotlessly clean and serviced daily. |We were made to feel so welcome by Madam Matoula, her daughter Maria and family including Mateus the extra large family cat. |This will be our first choice on returning back to Skiathos and can not recommend this place...

Great location. Beautifully clean room with a good shower. Matoula is a wonderful host. We were met at the airport and taken back . Room 3 has a good sized balcony with a full sized fridge,kettle and toaster. Free Wifi and air con. Sheets and towels are changed regularly and room cleaned daily. Matoula would often put freshly boiled eggs and other treats outside our door in the morning. Supermarket is either in the town ,5 mins walk away or by the airport 15 mins walk. ||We hired a quad to get around the island but bus stops 5 mins walk and restaurants within a few metres walk.||There are a couple of clubs which had not opened close by so unsure of noise level but Skiathos is not Ibiza and remains a beautiful island.
