MADEMI STEAK-TAVERN — Restaurant in Skiathos Municipality

We pre booked a table to celebrate our last evening on holiday, we fancied somewhere a little more 'fancy', we all had high hopes considering the amount of Google reviews, however since reviewing these may actually be fake. We turned up for our 7:30 booking and were seated straight away, the restaurant was beautifully decorated but very quiet in comparison to the near by restaurants. The man who we believe to be the 'manager' came over to take our order, he then announced that there was only a few steaks left as there was 'a delay with the meat delivery' (he should of contacted us prior to our booking to tell us this) so we had a very limited selection to choose from. We made it work because we were hungry and looking forward to our steaks and we were already drinking our drinks. Our starters came out reasonably promptly, however we waited a hour and a half for our mains to be served. The manager brought out some steaks eventually and he wanted to cut them for us, we asked if we could just have the steak and cut it ourselves to speed up the service however he wanted to cut it himself to 'show off the steak' We then waited another 5 minutes before other steaks were brought out, the whole serving food took a good 10-15 minutes so everyone at the table was eating at different times. The food was very disappointing also, the steaks were not cooked how we had asked, I’ll attach the photo of the 'medium' steak, which was like jelly. The food was also cold by the time we got it, chips had too much gritty seasoning on, as there was limited steaks a couple of us had chicken burgers, these were also average at best, smothered in a watery white sauce. We were all really disappointed with our food but by this point all absolutely starving and it was getting late, so we ate what we could. We waited for a waiter or the manager to come over and do a table check and ask how the food was but we weren't checked on once after we were served food, the plates weren't taken from the table, no ask of any more drinks. We eventually asked for the bill as we just wanted to leave, it was strange as they wouldn't seem to bring the bill over to our table, eventually one of the party went over to them as we had asked for the bill numerous times and not received it, we mentioned about the poor service and how disappointed we were, the manager couldn't seem to care less, and tried to use the excuse that they had been busy, baring in mind we had been in the restaurant for 2 hours and there was only a few other tables. After back and forth with the manager they knocked off a measly 10% charge off the €550 bill but refused any apology, leaving us all massively disappointed with our last night. Would definitely not recommend, rubbish service, rubbish food, overpriced waste of time. No surprise that it was the quietest restaurant...

We experienced a wonderful evening at Mademi last night. Such a beautiful setting with great service and exceptional food. This restaurant is a must to visit whilst holidaying in Skiathos. The meat based menu is very varied and offers 'high end' cuisine very reasonably priced with an option to eat from the choice of outstanding steak preferences too. The owner was very warm and welcoming with an extensive knowledge and passion for the food served. My pork medallions a la creme served with purple gnocchi was fabulous, the sauce was 'to die for' our meal was amazing from start to finish. Very disappointed after reading a lot of positive reviews which I now believe to be false. Booked for a table of 10, was told upon arrival that there had been a “problem with meat supplies” and half of the menu was not available. It took 90 minutes for our food to come out, which looked great but was cold. We aren’t particularly fussy, but when we raised issues to the staff they just avoided our table. The “manager” who took a Salt Bae approach presenting the food didn’t have a clue as to what the difference was between “rare” and “medium”. All the food was poor unfortunately. Will...
