Orfos Villas — Hotel in Zakynthos Municipality

If I could give Orfos Villas 10 out of 5, I would! The villa itself (we stayed in Villa Yria) is beautifully designed with an emphasis on local stone and wood, and spans 3 floors with tasteful decor, comfortable beds, modern appliances (fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine) , a wealth of fresh towels and efficient air conditioning. Loads of space to come together to eat, talk, socialise but also lots of private areas to chill out, read, listen to music for a bit too. ‘Plenty of crockery, glasses, cutlery, pots etc in the kitchen, plus a wee coffee machine. The bathrooms are modern with good showers and plenty of hot water at all times. The lovely lady who cleans comes in every day and gives the place a very thorough going over, even if it doesn’t need it! Likewise, the chap who cleans the pool comes every evening and he even cleaned out our barbecue before we had a chance to do it ourselves. The pool area is beautiful; clean, equipped with sturdy loungers and swing chair, with carefully placed shading and, of course, uninterrupted, breath-taking views across to Kefalonia. The pool is a good size (2 or 3 folk on lilos could happily bob around in it with plenty of leeway) and of uniform depth (I’m 5’5” and could stand). Even although the villas are semi-detached, they are carefully designed to be very private and the pool and terraces are in no way overlooked by other guests. Within a short walk down the hill are a number of very pleasant restaurants and tavernas, leading down into the village/port itself. There were many dining-out options but provision shopping opportunities are quite limited and expensive in the village, although you can, obviously, get basics. There are idyllic little shingle beaches dotted along the coast and lots of swimming and boating opportunities. Lastly, but definitely not least - the hosting by Sofia and Spyros is absolutely exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble and they are genuinely warm and generous people. Sofia helped us to arrange taxis, shopping, offered friendly advice, gave us lovely gifts including local olive oil, honey (delicious!), wine and apricots from her garden. Despite our lack of Greek language skills, they were incredibly attentive and helpful but not at all obtrusive; a hosting...

Avid traveller here, I rarely give 5* but this place ... deserves them fully. Where do I even start, the owners Sofia and Spyros have been very friendly and accommodating, I have had a request for a surprise birthday cake for my friends and let me tell you that the cake was delicious, we have also received a welcoming gift in the form of their own olive oil and a bottle of wine. The villa we had was Yria, the location is absolutely stunning, you could not ask for a better location, you have unrestricted view of the harbour and the best place to see the sunrise which is a must do. The villa comes with everything you need to self cater, from plates, cutlery, glasses, oven, coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine to microwave cutting boards. The rooms are superb with AC and own bathrooms, as well as a service bathroom next to the kitchen. The outdoor area is very well equipped and maintained, 5 sun lounges around the pool a swing, a bbq that comes with everything you need to make some memorable moments. The views from every angle of this villa are amazing, either from the pool area or the balcony, it will not disappoint. The service is top notch, house cleaning is done every day, bed making and replacing of towels and toiletry if needed also the pool area is being cleaned the taken care of twice a day, TWICE! Needles to say that we were impressed and would recommend this place to anyone that wants a great experience, an amazing sunrise and great hospitality. You get a great service and experience for your money. If you read this far... go book it and thank me later !

Ps. If you want a boat, right across the street on the main road is Zante Boat Rentals run by 2 great people and brothers. Have a drink at the art cafe higher...

From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the owners of Villas Orfos, Spyros and Sofia, but also the cleaning lady and the gardener, did everything to make us feel like home and every day Sofia left us cakes and fruits in the kitchen. They are really nice people. We spent one week with our 4 years old son in Villa Jogia, that had everything you could want from a vacation place. The place is located on the hills, the views over the sea are great and in the night we had perfect silence, because it is not an usual touristic noisy area. There is a pool, barbecue, washing machine, dishwasher, and if you want something, just ask to the owners and they will help with no hesitation. Spyros even drived us several times in the small village close to the port and showed us where we can eat.

If you would like to explore the island, then you would need a rented car. The trip from the airport is around 50 mins up and down the mountains.
