Palataki Absolute Blue — Hotel in Zakynthos Municipality

We stayed at Palataki for 3 nights, it was a great place to stay. Every room has a beautiful terrace with unrestricted views over the Ionian sea, a table and chairs, a great spot for breakfast. The room was clean and spacious. Our hosts were very friendly and even brought nice cups of coffee to our room. We would stay at Palataki again in an instant. The only downside was that there was no WIFI, but perhaps it is a blessing in disguide.||St Nicholas port is a nice quiet place to stay, and handy for trips to Shipwreck Bay and the Blue Caves. Warning though: there is no ATM in St Nicholas port, the nearest ATM is in Alykanas so you should make sure you have enough cash on you. You will need a hire car to get to the Shipwreck viewpoint (worth it). We arrived into Zante bus station from Athens and met Dimitri from Dragon Car Hire (Golden Group in Zante), and had a hire car for a day for 40EUR, a much better option than getting a taxi to St Nicholas port. If you get a chance to visit the Lighthouse and the Windmills that is also nice, with a nice spot to jump from and swim at the Windmills...

The apartments are light and airy but require renovation (in particular the bathroom and furniture) to meet the needs of the modern traveller. However, you do get a panoramic view of the sea, which is spectacular. Towels and sheets are changed every three days only and the daily cleaning service comprises of the emptying of bins and sweeping of floors, if necessary. There was also no kettle nor toaster which would have made preparing breakfast far easier. The hosts are lovely and collected us from the port which was most welcome.||The apartments are located up a hill about 5-10 minute walk from Agios Nikolaos port and beach with its crystal clear waters. The only negative is the amount of litter around the port, which did spoil the ambiance. Location was perfect for us. 5 minute walk from the town and beach. Private access to the sea for amazing snorkeling. Amazing views of the sunrise directly from the balcony. Owners very friendly and flexible for check in time (we arrived at 9pm). Parking is free and spacious. Apartment is clean and basic. It has a fridge and some plates and utensils, but cooking in the apartment is not an option. But who wants to cook their own food !! A few extra glasses would be helpful, and also the shower is open so the floor gets wet. A shower curtain with the shower head on the wall would be helpful, however none of these minor comforts take away a fantastic stay at this location. I...
