La Storia — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

WORST food experience in our 2 week Greece trip. From the entrance we encountered the owner who praised so much her chef skills of cooking "as being the best chef in the city". 3-4 waiters were looking at us not knowing what to say to us, or to welcome us inside until the owner start yelling at them. Very unprofessional. About the terrace infrastructure, is disastrous. As we were going to take a sit at the tables beside the water(maybe the only good thing at this tavern) the floor suddenly drops around 3 feet(90cm), for the stairs are positioned far in one corner pretty hard to see as going for the first time. Now for the worst part, the food. As we were looking through the meniu we were shocked about the highly inflated prices. For example 1 tzatziki 8 euro where in the best places we ate and almost everywhere elese is 4-5, 6 euro maximum. We ordered different types of food to see the quality of it and we were horrified. Payed 12 euro for a few small pieces of refrigerated chiken nuggets and barely a hand of french fries also refrigerated, thrown in the plate miserably, not a bit of salad or sauce. The fryed cod was 13,5 euro, which sounds good until you see 2 small pieces of cod that looked inedible, salted way to much and served also with refrigerated french fries. Everything looked like a total mess. My fryed squid looked and tasted ok(not even close to how a greek tavern cookes it) until I chewed hair. And not once but twice. The fish soup was ok if you only drink the soup and can ignore the fish in it that was cooked so bad and without a taste. We couldn't drink not even water as half of the glasses were dirty, literally stinking and full of dirt traces all over them. After we were finish with the food and the waiter cleaned the table(not before slipping the cutlery all over) we received the check on a sticky note written by hand. No official tax receipt. Im sure not even one of them is greek. Not the owner not the chef neither the waiters, which wouldn't be a problem if they could serve edible food. A disgrace for the beautiful culture and food of the zakynthos island and...

We are staying in Spartia Suites up the hill and decided to get delivery after we’d had a couple of drinks. The food is fairly standard. Spaghetti carbonara, aubergine salad and fries were all as one would expect but the fried courgettes weren’t too great.

However, the prices I think are fair, the communication was excellent, and the food was delivered within 15 minutes.

The gentleman who delivered to us was ever so friendly and polite, showing great interest as to where we from and complimentary about our appearance.

Whilst I would give the food a 3 star rating, the customer service was 5 stars, bringing the total to 4...

It is really good place to eat. I'm giving my honest recommendation.

PROS: one of few restaurants where chef is not afraid of using salt and seasoning, I have ordered grilled calamari, it was very well prepared, fresh and delicious, great service, very polite service, they are almost immiediatly at your table ready to take your order, willing to provide quick advice or recommendation, medium price tag, food is served reasonably quick,

CONS: they need to rework a little bit salads in main dishes, chopped lettuce with drop of olive oil is bit disappointing, it is more a decoration. I know that they could do...
