Read moreSadly I think the Peli has passed its best. We stayed in a stunning villa this year and quite honestly didn’t want to leave it to go down to the club for the following reasons. |Summertime in zante is boiling hot and once you are down at the club there is NOWHERE with air conditioning. So if you want to just take a breather from the hot sun there is nowhere to escape to. Towels are restricted to one a person and most of them have seen better days and are a bit crusty. |The gym is outdoor and has only a small fan to cool you. Water was in limited supply as were towels. The running machine wasn’t working and since they only had one it was a bit of a let down. |The swimming pool was nicknamed the ‘swimming Pee’ by my family because it was full of small children and very unrelaxing. The Peli would seriously benefit from an Adults Only pool. |The famous Peli Bbqs are disappointing, chaotic and overpriced for the poor quality and quantity of food. Most guests were commenting on how they would never go again which is sad because the social concept is great. |This year the staff we came into contact with especially at reception were miserable, probably from overwork and moaning about how they have to walk home at night for 40minutes. Not for the faint hearted in this heat. |We won’t be returning again. Zante is beautiful, there is a growing number of good restaurants and next time we come we will rent somewhere privately. Our teens have a ball because they know where to go to be social but sadly we have outgrown the Peli and I’m not sure we can recommend it to our friends until they give the...

When you spend a considerable amount of money, at least by Greek standards, plus the guarantee of a British club, you don't expect to end up in a room without mosquito nets, which retains heat, and therefore where it is impossible to sleep unless you are battered by mosquitoes and hold the front door completely shut to let a trickle of air through; so you risk ending up in hospital and having to leave two days early. After not sleeping, again on the advice of this club, you also have to do the death march down a sloping road under the scorching sun, partly on a main asphalt road to reach the sea side. But according to them everything is normal and the car is not needed. So after spending the day in search of a bit of shade (watching groups of children being towed in unison by motorboats, on inflatable dinghies, hoping that they don't collide with each other) you arrive at the end of the day to find yourself with heatstroke, nausea, cramps. You ask the reception desk for some medicine, and they suggest you walk to the harbour to get it, down the hill by the side of the road, just to overheat a little more. What is even more incredible is that when after 4 days you complain (we had asked for the upgrade half an hour after checking in, but we were told it could not be done without paying back the full amount again), these gentlemen, with great unpleasantness, reply that it is your fault for not complaining enough. A real nightmare,...
