Villa Doris — Hotel in Zakynthos Municipality

Our flights with Thomas cook got cancelled, including our booking with villa Doris. Since it was our honeymoon and my wife really wanted to go to zante i secured other tickets. I called the hotel and spoke to the owner. His reply was '' do not worry about a room, just get here we will sort you out'' We had the best room in villa Doris. ||||Rooms are very clean and very traditional. This is a self catering and i am by trade a chef, but to be honest from the 7 days we stayed in i only cooked twice, it is actually cheaper to eat outside and the places are really good. Since i speak Greek i met a lot of locals and everyone wwas very friendly all around the island. ||||The lady looking after us was amazing, credit to the place, every morning she will greet us and ask if we need it anything. I am very surprised about this place as there is not a lot of reviews, however its a gem hidden. The sea is right outside your balcony and tbh we hired a car and went all around the island, My wife believed we had the best beach in zante and i agree. ||||Things to do. Morning sitting at the balcony waiting for the sunrise :) trust me nothing can beat that. Swimming, You can hire a boat and go around marathonisi, which is the turtle island you can see from the villa, it worth all the money. ||Navagio its a shipwreck and a secluded beach, take the boat but make sure you listen to instruction. cave diving, many many other things, Loads of night life. Make sure you visit the church in the centre, also go to boxalis at night. ||||The city is known the the famous poet Solomon, who actually wrote the lyrics to the Greek national anthem. Summer time as well there is boat you can take to the near island kefalonia. ||||All in All we will definitely go back to villa Doris and we wanted to thank the whole team as they were amazing. Our room (ground floor) was tiny and dark. Very old and ugly dark brown furniture, the matrasses are extremly hard and worn down, the shower is so small that the curtain keeps sticking on your body all the time, the kitchen is not well equipt (no cutting board, only one huge knife to cut things, pots with no lids and you really have to buy everything no sponge no dishsoap is provided). On the positive side is to mention that the price for the apartment was very cheap, 20€ per person per night. The receptionist and the house maid were friendly and helpfull (as mentiont earlier the bed was extremly uncomfortable and after a sleepless night I told them about it and then they've put a soft foam rubber padding on top of the matress which really...

The Aircon is charged extra! It doesn't say on booking.com how much. You only find out when you arrive. And if you refuse, your room will be unbearable hot! The only solution is to sleep with the door opened the whole night.

I tried complaining, in my second day I've already got health issues from this situation. Initially, I was told I was rude, then that the owner will come tomorrow morning. They clearly don't care about the guests and are only here to rip you off.

Tomorrow I'll contact the credit card company to do a chargeback and end my holiday much earlier...
