We arrived on the Laganas beach early in the morning and were looking for a place where we could eat breakfast. The Blue Waves restaurant was right next to where we stopped so we decided to try our luck here. Even though the place appeared on the map to be open at 7, we were told that they could only serve us starting with 9 AM. The place was empty - seeing that its position is rather far from the other restaurants and seemingly at the end of the beach. So we could sit virtually anywhere. The terrace was nice, with a welcoming decor and a few plants, which added some pleasant green touches. The waitress was very polite, agreeable and spoke excellent English. We opted for the vegetarian breakfast, the greek breakfast and a toastie. The food took a bit to prepare, but it was fairly ok tasting, with decent portions, nothing to write home about. The toastie had an interesting taste, combining sausages, ham and salad in a bun. When it came time for us to pay, we had to wait a little bit, as our server was nowhere to be found. Luckily, we were not in a hurry and we enjoyed the fair weather and the beautiful scenery. All in all, a decent meal, but we would not eat here again, unless we were to be really hungry and somehow we would end up in...
Read moreWe visited Blue Waves Restaurant out of curiosity due to its inviting appearance and solid location. The place has a cozy, traditional look, though it felt more like a clean taverna than a full-service restaurant.
However, the service was… intense. The older male waiter, with a rounded midsection and a very theatrical style, gave off a strong “trying too hard” energy. We witnessed him say to a table of young women: “Skies are blue, you are beautiful, and I only want to serve you.” While some might find it flattering, others could easily see it as awkward or cringeworthy. For us, it felt overly pushy.
We barely had time to look at the menu or compare prices before he swept us into ordering. The whole approach gave off a bit of a “hard sell” vibe, which wasn’t exactly relaxing.
That said, we were hungry and decided to stay. We ordered three Greek salads and one chicken gyros. The food itself was very good – the salads were fresh, with excellent feta and olives, and the gyros was flavorful with nicely balanced seasoning.
Overall, the food delivered, but the overly eager and slightly uncomfortable service style took away from the experience. If you’re in the mood for energetic attention and decent Greek classics, it might still be...
Read moreSadly the menu has shrunk with the end of season so close. Had fancied Stifado but it was not to be. Had Pastitsio instead. Wow! Was so tasty and far better than any Lasagne I've had. Although suspect it had been frozen. The restaurant is beach front, some seating under shelter, where I sat inspite of the sun shining brightly a few hours earlier there had been a thunderstorm. Still had a clear view of the sea, could hear the waves. Beautifully atmospheric. The guy running it, Johnny, was friendly but not intrusive. Think he got it just right at first! He became too attentive, kept returning too many times. Then asked me to return when they closed. I gave no encouragement, was not wearing revealing clothes but even if I was, his behaviour was unacceptable and creepy. Until that point I was just soaking up the quiet vibe, music playing in the background. He spoilt it. I gave the place a wide berth after. Coffee was a little strong for my taste, not particularly nice either. Have to say, the chips were the best I had all week! 'Cash only due to it being...
