My husband and I stayed at this charming hotel in November. I was only able to stay a week, but he stayed on for a month and I appreciated the kindness of the staff to him after I had to leave. The room we had was exceptionally large for a hotel containing a sitting area with sofa and chairs, a nice desk and private balconies. For a long term stay, this room was comfortable and felt home like. Everything was very clean and so large it was not crowded even with all the amenities. I loved the architecture, color and decor in this unusual hotel; so different from standard modern hotels. We enjoyed the restaurant and found the menu diverse. I particularly enjoyed the fresh fruit, juices and cookies set out every morning. The staff was wonderful, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. It could get noisy on weekend nights when weddings were held in the pool area. Otherwise it was quiet. This hotel was unforgettable for it's interesting details and relaxed atmosphere. A great place for anyone who wants to experience the best of the...
Read moreBooked several nights here to use as a base to do some touring of Tegucigalpa, Santa Lucia and the surrounding areas. First, the negatives - no elevator with most rooms on upper levels... and I think some fresh paint is warranted in spots. A strength and downside is the location which is in a quiet residential neighborhood with limited access to alternative dining options and services within the immediate area. That all said, staff was competent and dedicated, room was clean, food in the Cafe was excellent and reasonably priced, furnishings and decor throughout the hotel reflect and celebrate the beautiful Honduran Mayan culture, there was a wonderful outdoor patio and an additional poolside patio with food service available, inviting lobby, and business center. Beds were comfortable, water pressure was good and TV and WiFi worked well. I have stayed at 2 other hotels in Teguz and each has its own strengths and character, but the Portal del Angel has probably been my favorite and also a...
