There are a couple of good things of this place: location of course - the city centre is within cycling distance, there is a refrigerator free for campers, where you can have your own small locker (little cabinet with a private key) and well warm water in the showers. However, I mostly did not like there. The first bad news was that cars we were not allowed on the tent area - had to drive it to a seperate parking slot and we could only get out during daytime if the receptionist opened the gate. So we could load our stuff off and later had to go to the car for everything because you just don't leave your valuables and all the camping gear in the small tent for 3 days while you're not at the campsite. and to make it worse, we were told to park our car elsewhere, wheras there were 2 minivans parking there on the same area without a problem. So not fair. Second minus is that since we were not alone obviously, there was not much choice for a spot where the sun would not shine on the tent int the morning heating it up. It was constantly 28+ degrees outside anyways so you just want a bit cooler tent in the morning. There was a huge tree, which offered a shadow but it was right next to a restaurant for campers, which meant noise til 11 PM and awful smell of burning grilled meat every evening. The sanitary facilities were small. On our last evening there came a group of about 15 campers, pretty much all female and we had to share 5 toilets and 4 showers. Yup, you see the problem. Also the sanitary rooms looked bad. Seriously in the need of renovation. things hung from the walls, showers were poorly cleaned, the mirrors were like cheap metal, distortig the image in the mirror. We nly stayed there because it was the best located camping...
Read moreThis was our second visit in Budapest with camper, but first time in this place. In time of our visit, it was opened just lower part of the camp. No separated pitches, you park where you can. For 3-4 campers there is a place on gravel, otherwise it is soil, in this time of year nothing but mud... Toilets are ( to be mild with words) basic, in the evenening it was just cold water ( then we did not try more). You can empty chemical wc in the same hole as grey water, but all taps outside were closed, so there is no possibility to rinse wc box ( and no, it was not bellow zero or even close). The hole for gray water is aprox 15x15cm big, covered with iron cap that you have to move. And yes it is dirty, and jou have do move it with your hands. Another problem is that the hole is 5-10cm above ground level ( insted under), so you have to be very very precised how to stop your wehicle. I have many many years of experiences with RV, but this... Wi-fi is not working at all The staff; we stayed for 4 nights, and we have seen just one caretaker. He seems realy hard-working, but impossible to comunicate otherwise like in hungarian. Even when we were leaving, he had colled the manager who told us by the phone how muuc we have to pay. No invoice or receipt... They give a discount if you stay more than 3 nights, but the price is way to high for what offering. Only good thing is that this campsite is among others more close to the city centre, trolley is just infront of camp, and metro is 10 minutes walk. OK, to walk to city centre is a little bit to far.... We will visit Budapest again in the near future, but we will chose...
Read moreGreat campsite with sunny or shady pitches, a kitchen, washing machines and good, hot (but slightly grubby) showers along with all the usual campsite facilities. It's peaceful for a city centre site too with lots of greenery and the prices are good given it's central location. The staff are really helpful and friendly, they speak good English and can make recommendations about where to go. You can walk or cycle to the city centre along the Danube or take the tram. I recommend downloading the BudapestGo app and buying digital tickets as it's a lot easier than finding a non-broken machine and trying to use it. There are supermarkets, cafes and parks nearby as well. I really enjoyed...
