Situated right by the bus and train station. About 10 mins walk to the "Nagystrand", which you have to pay to access the lake Balaton, however if you stay 2 or more nights and booked with the hotel directly, you can get entry for free.
Food: Breakfast - cereal, fresh bread roll, salami, ham, cheese, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage(althought more like hot dog sausage) hot sandwiches, savory and sweet pastries, pancakes, cucumber, tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, yoghurts, large selection of fruits (apple, watermelon, banana etc) fruit juice, tea, coffee, hot chocolate. Included in the stay. I was worried having read the reviews, but honestly it was a good breakfast.
Spa: nice size jacuzzi (37C degree, very warm), good size pool(25C degree, feels a lot colder) tiny sauna. Like the idea of entering the area with the same keycard you use for your hotel room door.
Parking: 3000ft/night in a secure car park. Tight, but good price, considering other parking around the area is 1200ft/hour, or the cheapest we found was 400ft/hour.
Room 35 - Balaton: Apparently, all rooms are differently designed. Ours was decorated like we were in a lake cabin, with fish hanging and picture of a boat hanging. Nice theme. Not a massive room, but clean. Shower is large, but water pressure not as strong as I'd normaly like(personal choice I guess). There is a small safe inside for your valuables as well as a well stocked mini fridge(extra charge if you use anything). There was mini champagne, salted sticks, coke, water and some other bits and bobs in there, but we bought our own at the shop nearby. They have bath robes and extra towels in the room for the spa use. TV - we couldn't change the channel, only showed 1 hungarian movie channel, but we weren't that bothered. If you want to sleep late, this room is not for you. We have tried to do a room swap, but unfortunately they were fully booked. Right opposite the room, there is a storage cupboard used by the staff and only a few steps away is a side door for the front seating area as well as the breakfast room. Oh and I didn't mention this room is also very close to the main door. You might have noticed I've mentioned a lot of doors... that's because you can hear all of these banging in your room. Unfortunately, this has ruined our sleep time. This was our wedding anniversary without kids, so sleeping in would have been a massive thing.
Overall, staff was lovely, shame we didn't get our full relax time as planned. Also, was missing the bar/restaurant features as a normal hotel would have. Maybe it was hidden somewhere, we didn't ask just...
Read moreWe have booked two nights at this hotel. There is nothing boutique and nothing luxury about this hotel, besides the price tag. |As you enter the room, you do not get the feeling, you have entered a nice freshly cleaned room. Rather a dark, dirty one, where you do not want to touch anything.|The bathroom is small and not practical. Not a single cabinet or shelf to put your toiletries bag. The sink is small and the tap is high, so if you are washing your face, all the water runs on the floor.|Amenities are non existent. The room is old, run down and not cleaned well. Spiderweb hanging off the chandelier. The design is all, but appealing. As if somebody has picked up some stuff from a thrift store. Not recommend the family room for families with small children, as the stairs to the gallery are steep and dangerous.| There are no toiletries in the room, not even a single packed bar of soap. Two dispensers fixed on the wall filled with some soap. No shampoo, no conditioner, no body lotion.||We have pre-booked and prepaid the parking. Still at the arrival we could not even stop in front anywhere near the hotel, as it was full. I have got out of the car and ran to the reception. The not friendly receptionist told me first, that we can only park, once we have checked in. Only when I have insisted, that there is nowhere to stop anywhere near, she has opened the gate with an attitude.|The double bed is small and the mattress is uncomfortable.|The room is not sound-proofed, so you will hear your neighbors very well, as well will have the feeling, the cars are driving right through your room.|There is a minibar in the room, but no water cattle/coffee maker.|The safe is still working with a real key, which of course needs to be request at the reception.|Their official check out time is noon. However they will tell you at check in, it is 11:00am. So if you have not read their web, they will try to get you out...
Read moreWe stayed here for a week. Pros: Very good location, both short walks to a center and a Balaton lake. Nicely decorated hallways and rooms Kind staff at the reception and at the breakfast always willing to help and speaking English and German Free parking if you can find a spot in front of the hotel Pretty good wellness to use if it's raining outside (steam sauna was not working though) Free coffee machine in the dining hall
Cons: Located near a railway, so that if you mind sounds of trainstation, probably ask for a room away from there, we didn't mind The breakfast was a big disappointment, low quality and a small range of foods to choose from, orange juice was good though We did get a room service only once in the whole week despite hanging the sign to clean it on the doorknob three days continuously (after telling the receptionist, we did get one, he apologized for the cleaners) Ever present sense of filthiness, spider webs everywhere, not cleaned windows, places where there was no cleaning in years For the price and the 4* given to this hotel we expected and are accustomed to more We visited one of the restaurants they partnered with, but we weren't told at the reception that you need some kind of coupon which left us without a discount
We were a little disappointed, would not come back again, but if you don't mind the things I mentioned as "cons", than...
