Rouge staff, unhygienic property and security concerns Worst beach resort one could think of. This is our second stay here and we hoped that this time maybe things would be better. But these unprofessional staffs of this resort are mannerless and rogue. Today is Diwali and me and my family which included a four year kid were enjoying the evening at the beach. And then we see a number of staff from the resort brought some firecrackers and to our shock they actually burnt and threw two crackers on us. The manager just came and asked them to stop very casually. Eventually we were the ones who had to leave the beach and the guys kept bursting crackers. To this when we reacted the manger has the audacity to say that since the kid was not hurt we were the ones who were over- reacting. I am feeling unsafe but since the property requires you to pay the entire bill first, I am feeling stuck in here. This resort charges you like a five-star property and gives you a stinking room with hooligans as the staff. Everything stinks, cabin has single layer curtains which makes me doubt privacy. I found a lizard litter on the chair outside. The toilets are dirty and I doubt they ever use disinfectant on the floor. Feeling Shocked and cheated!
I am posting this review a bit late as i had earlier posted my review in trip advisor hoping that maybe the managent would take a note. However, the manager has the audacity to respond to the trip advisor review and blame us by saying that it was us who were at fault. We spent our har earned money which you feel is nothing because you only care for customers who tip you in dollars and Indians are looked down upon by your staff. Also you had accepted that the staff threw firecrackers on us, yet you blame us for not liking diwali. No sensitivity or apology for putting a baby at risk by the resort staff. Shame on your insensitivity...
Read moreWe stayed in their "Back Row Cabana" room in 3rd week of November and had a fairly decent experience.
Rooms: Dunhill is one of the few resorts with beach huts that doesn't have an open to air bath & toilet which was one of our primary criteria for booking this place. This makes the room small with almost all the space being occupied by the bed.
The "Back Row Cabana" room had a fairly decent view of the beach and a nice porch to sit and relax, with the beach no more than 10 meters away. Staff was mostly firendly and helpful. Cabana rooms came with complimentary limited breakfast, which they don't provide on their other rooms. The restaurant was also 10 meters away from the room, which was super convienet since the rooms don't have an inter-com. On the down side, the rooms need better privacy, as the design of curtain rods meant big gaps were left between curtains and anyone could easily see through them. Also, we constantly had issues with hot water supply which was attributed to a faulty water heater, which they fixed for good after 2 days. On the other hand during power failures (which happened atleast twice a day) there is only basic electrical back up, which meant no air conditioning and no hot water. Another downer was lack of in-room coffee maker, which they apparently have in their cheaper courtyard rooms.
WiFi: Agonda has a very weak mobile data network, which means you have to rely on the hotels WiFI. They had a decent WiFi connection in the resaturant area but the signla was very weak and patch in the room. Plus they kept changing their password frequently, and we had to constantly go and ask them for the new password.
Restaurant: The restaurant's food was nice, but was more attuned to suit the western pallet. The one thing we didn't like though was the fact that the chicken from tandoor (chicken tikka and tandoori) was...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible experience staying at this place. Being unprofessional and untrained is one thing, which can still be understood, but staff here are all so rude and insensitive. I would not suggest anyone, not even my enemies to stay at this place. There were snakes and chameleon roaming around the premise, which made us feel highly unsafe. Moreover, in the name of Diwali, the staffs were continuously throwing crackers on people, despite asking them time and again not to do so. I with my other family members were sitting and enjoying the evening of Diwali. Views and sound of firecrackers were adding to the beauty of the evening. Till, the most horrible thing happened - rude staff started throwing crackers on us, even after I went and told them to burt crackers at some other place. While i went to tell them to do so, 3-4 firecracker bursted on the exact same spot where my family members were sitting. A two and half year old child who was with us, had to be literally rescued by my wife by holding him in arms and running from there. The child was so traumatized and scared that he kept dreaming about that nightmarish event for so many nights. He kept waking up in middle of the night and kept asking will it happen again. I went and tried to talk to the manager, but he kept justifying that there was nothing wrong with whatever his staffs did. Forget about being apologetic, that manager who saw everything unfolding in front of his own eyes, was not even sympathatic towards us. He was rather shouting on us. While justifying his staffs' behavior, manager also said and i quote that "one of his staff is mentally challenged". I was extremely surprised to hear that and decided not to argue with such people who recruit 'This is the kind of "mentally challenged" people. Afterall you cannot expect logical conversation with such...
