One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. *I’ll explain why 4/5 in the end.
➕ +Breakfast was amazing with a huge variety. So many healthy options.
+They have free puppet shows, Taj Mahal story telling, and traditional music performance at the lobby. We really enjoyed all three of those performances.
+Anytime you need something, there is someone there to help you. Room service was very helpful.
+They have two swimming pools but sadly both of them are in open air and if you are unlucky like us, you can use any if there is a sand storm which is probably very rare.
+Almost everything was as good as what you would expect from a 5 star hotel. So, I can highly recommend this hotel. I’m not really sure if there are any better hotels in town.
➖ There are a few things I would like to point out to.
-During breakfast and other meals, they serve water that is brought to you in bottles which are clearly tap water. It always tasted so heavy and different and the caps showed so much ware on them making it obvious they’ve been used a long time. I mean, come on. Why would you jeopardize your reputation for something so cheap? More importantly, if tap water in Agra is safe, just serve it with no fear. I also thought further than that and assumed they may be serving filtered water in those bottles. But it’s still unnecessary shady stuff.
-Another issue, which derives from my wrong expectation of India, was the level of English. I came to India thinking everybody spoke fluent or decent English. It’s not true. At this hotel however, I still expected more fluent English speakers. It wasn’t a huge deal but it was a but frustrating during dining and breakfasts. But everyone was so patient and nice so it really wasn’t a huge deal, as I said before.
-One more thing was the light switches. I mean, what’s wring with normal light switches that don’t confuse you every time you want to turn the light on or off? (Another unnecessary mistake, in my opinion)
-there was an armchair in our room that was very dirty looking. It looked like it had been on the street for 2 years.
-Another silly thing was the key cards. We had to change our key cards (for entering our rooms) 3 times in only 2 days. This has never happened to me at any other hotel. Not a big deal though because there’s always someone to open the door for you.
-Right before we checked out, house keeping brought a model of Taj Mahal in …..WHITE CHOCOLATE !!!! What waste of money. It tasted like nothing and it was just too big. It just makes me really angry that the staff is working so hard and the managers are like “hmmmm, yeah, chocolate Taj”🤣🤦🏻♂️
-But the most annoying and unprofessional thing about this hotel is that some of the staff requesting a five star review for the hotel. Don’t get me wrong, the staff is only doing their job, perfectly as always. This is a management problem. It made the whole interaction with the staff feel insincere and somewhat pushed. Some of the staff even asked for their names to be mentioned in the reviews. How does that help anyone? Things like this should be organic and not pushed or demanded. It might be a cultural thing that I don’t understand.
-our bed was strange. In the middle of the mattress, there was a bump and the pillows were too soft and mushy.
-Just being critical with this one😄: the replies to five star reviews is just a copy paste response from the hotel which shows they don’t even read the reviews.:) That’s the last reason why I gave this hotel 4 and not 5 out of 5.
I really do believe the real service that this hotel provides is 5 out of 5. However, the things I mentioned did not allow me to fully appreciate my experience.
All in all, I think this hotel is not using its full potential which can be achieved by a little more care which is unfortunately not the...
Read moreWorst staff behaviour…poor hospitality. Very poor hospitality, When we checked in it was 2 pm around 47 degrees outside and since my son aged 4 years was sleeping my wife carried him and went inside the hotel. Too many guests were there for check in. All the seats were full and there were 5 staffs standing near the door looking at her there was no proper welcoming non of them offered one chair to sit though there were empty chair in the travel desk. They behaved as if my wife carrying a child and standing was invisible. Such a ruthless behaviour. They dint offer welcome drink even. Looks like they respect only foreigners and members because they were offered welcome drink and seats too…there’s one lady who looks like a manager or so I don’t know she makes a choice to talk to guest and offer the welcome drink and others will be invisible to her even we are in the same lift she doesn’t bother to smile….next rooms are not that great as it’s shown in the pictures, walls were dirty. We had wet blankets in the room. Toiletries were limited. No bathroom slippers. They have mentioned kids play area in amenities which is not at all ready looks like it’s still under construction which was our main reason to book this hotel. Very disappointing. Next morning breakfast was not good. Waffle was over cooked and very hard to bite and next time it was under cooked ,we were about to travel so asked some food to be packed for my kid so the restaurant manager and the staff were so rude and money minded they said to pack food it will be on al a cart charge, and when we said no they just kept quite. Finally chef who came to our table checking with us he said I will get it packed for you and packed some food. They just put some food in the container and gave it in hand no bag was given…I mean what type of attitude is this ??is this is really Taj experience….because we have travelled to different places and stayed in Taj, Jw Marriott, Vivanta, IHCL and Ramada the hospitality, warmth that we get is next level. We ask some food for kids they pack for us too along with fruits and send and they make sure we are very comfortable. We have been travelling by road all the way from Bangalore from past 25 days and stayed in different chains of 5 star hotels and we had such a comfortable stay and great experience but this is the worst experience. They don’t respect guest here, they only do business….spoiled our entire...
