Location: Hotel is located in a very crowded street... Not very posh or attractive... So the first impression when one gets on reaching the spot is not very classic...
Entrance: The entrance leads you from this very unassuming, crowded and unkept street to the porch which is maintained with a shower but still you don't get the feel of the Hotel... It looks very simple and undecorated still....
Reception: The sense of unornamentation refuses to leave even in the reception... The reception area is too narrow and doesn't give you enuf space to breathe... I was worried abt breathing too deeply lest it may have created a vacuum there....
Elevator: The elevator again is pretty staid and plain...
Corridors: The corridors appear to present the first sense of break from the initial impressions
Room: Old set up but maintained in an extremely good way...!! There is nothing that is lacking in the room... The room is good...!!
Washroom: There is no bathtub here but that is not missed... Washroom is good and clean...!! Immaculate... Warm water is aplenty... Jetter could have been of a better quality...
2nd Floor Dining: Amazing area... Wide and spacious... The great thing about this place is that the next person seems seated about a light years away...!! So you feel as if you have personalized the area... There is a live music too... The performers are good and sing songs of your choice even... However, they can be a little low in this voice .. the mic needs to adjust the volume.... The service staff includes ladies too... And they are extremely courteous...
Breakfast: Standard limited menu...!! Not extremely elaborate but was good for my taste... As a vegetarian, anyways, there aren't many things to ask on the platter...!!!
Overall a unique experience...!! It's impossible to say with conviction that it was the best place but it's equally difficult to figure out any gaping holes in their...
Read moreWhen I was in 9th standard at school the Hotel Dynasty was inaugurated probably in 1984. During that period there was only one luxury hotel in Guwahati and that was Hotel Nandan. Dynasty as the name implies, the structure of this hotel is also huge. I have stayed there several times for other purposes. The hotel is very cool and calm. This was the first 4 star hotel in Guwahati just after Hotel Brahmaputra Asoka. Here wheel chair is accessible by lift and facility was included many years back. Hotel rooms are neat and clean. Room services are excellent. Though it is an expensive hotel still one can experience for a comfortable stay with kids and family. Nearby is the Fancy bazaar market. Lakhtokia market. Kamarpatty market and one can enjoy shopping here at a moderate prices also. Place is very crowded at evening and in festive season. The name of this place was derived from counting of money, Here Lakh means INR 1,00,000 and Tokia means Currency. During the British rule in India this place was regarded highly valuable and was termed the place as Lakhtokia and due to heavy potentiality business establishment were also set up here first. The railway station is also the major reason for the fast and consistent development of this area. Railway station can be reached by foot and by any other means and it is just 1 km from the Dynasty hotel. This hotel has restaurant, bar, spa, hot tub, and many more facilities of modern India. They serves a good and delicious food of all kinds to the guest....
Read moreA little fighting in myself on how to rate this hotel. I would definitely have multiple cons for this hotel. You have to leave your luggage at entrance and climb your way up to get yourself checked in. I didn't find any lift from ground to the hotel lobby. The Hotel lift has a fan but no way to turn it on. If you are on 4th floor, you definitely have to climb few more stairs (about 10) after getting out of the lift to reach your roo.. The lobby in between rooms smells of old air and not fresh though you are hardly 100 or 200 meters from Brahmaputra. When they say that your room is upgraded, it is still a small roo, though not very congested. Me and my wife caught cold here and not in Shillong or Sohra which were colder - reason being stale air. We felt like opening the windows and luckily found a small window to let some fresh air in. And if you are ordering 2 cups of tea just order one because you will get a jug of 2.5 cups of tea in one. Takes about 1 to 1.5 hrs to airport.
Pros: Everyone knows Dynasty hotel in Guwahati. Right in the middle of Fancy Bazaar. Very near to Brahmaputra river. You get Uber/Ola but have to wait due to congestion. Complimentary Breakfast is decent not great though. Staff is very helpful. Provides luggage room if you have some time between your check out and your departure...
