Laxmi Cabin — Restaurant in Assam

If you are in Guwahati and you have not been to Laxmi Cabin, I would seriously question your taste for food or even your sanity. Established way back in 1942, this humble eatery is almost synonymous with Assamese sweet delicacies. As someone from Assam, I have been visiting this place since my childhood. This humble but crowded eatery reminds me of countless memories with my parents, who have passed away. Anyway, on September 15, 2025 (Monday), I took my partner to this place for the first time in her life. Given the fact that my partner is a sweet connoisseur, she was almost ecstatic with the collection of items on display. While we picked up several traditional delicacies to carry back home, my partner also relished a couple of items at the eatery itself – Rasmalai and Patishapta. As usual, both the items were brilliant. However, Laxmi Cabin is also known for its unique breed of Samosas (Singra in Assamese). It was a slice of nostalgia for me. Laxmi Cabin is one of the oldest Cabin(Hotel) of Guwahati, they are serving really from a long time.. Inspite of a fall in the business few years back, they managed to hook up and stood still.. This place is always crowded with lovers of Singara(Samosa), Local Sweets(Goja, Khurma, etc etc) nd all the other types of Sweets.. Basically u will find people here, enjoying with a cup of Tea nd Samosa (which is a regular scene)..
