We were extremely disappointed to have a terrible experience at a so called “5 star” The Fern Ahmedabad.
after calling many hotels like Hyatt, Novotel and Radisson, I chose fern because they have driver accommodation and we needed that Try calling the reception and they won’t even transfer you to reservation! They will make you write a number to call for reserving. This is rare at these kinds of hotels. I called the reservation desk (a man named Sushil) to confirm driver quarters and he offered a room rate slightly lower than online booking so I decided to book through him. He failed to give me any confirmation, spoke like he is doing me a big favour and just ignored my request for room confirmation. He said he will email but he did not. I again had to call reception and a lady said she will check and call me back. She never called back. Next day, again I called and a guy named Ankit finally confirmed the room. Zero politeness in speaking. In total I had to call 3-4 times just to get confirmation. When my mother was checking in (I had booked for her), she asked for driver quarters and they said they will “see if it is possible”. So my mother said that’s the only condition to check in. Then they agreed finally. Why confirm on the phone when you want to harass people at the time of check in? Housekeeping: like other hotels, they had not kept any toiletries in the room because of COVID but all other (good) hotels provide these on request. The housekeeping staff just gave shampoo+soap and flatly refused to provide anything else. They said we have stopped all this. So even if you’ve chosen a big chain hotel, be prepared to be helpless if you have forgotten your toothbrush. Breakfast: Very small selection of food items, very slow service and bad tasting food. Ask for toast and tea, they will get tea and toast arrives after tea is finished. No fruits either. Even smaller hotels have better breakfast spreads.
All in all, the fern staff was impolite & incompetent. It was one of our worst hotel experiences and I would not recommend it to anybody. There are far better places in the city to choose from. Don’t be fooled by...
Read morePathetic service. I will definitely be going to brief it here, today 30th October,I visited the fortune select restaurant named zodiac, just to refresh the evening to have a cup of coffee or tea(beverages). I have ordered one hot chocolate and one cappuccino. As we went there, they said there is no cafe zone and the restaurant can serve the beverages, so we sat and ordered. As soon as we went the restaurant manager started taking the staff review which seems like more importance rather than customer service. Then the order arrived in a simple ghar ka coffee mug with dirty stains in the mug, the hot chocolate tasted like bournvita and the colour is light coffee colour, it was so horrible. The cappuccino was pathetic in a taste. I called the staff n said simply that I have many experiences of taste in hot chocolate as I love having in different places so I know the taste and preparation very well, I said the staff that this is not at all a hot chocolate n she said nei aisa hi hota hai , I said ok see this is so pathetic and bournvita ka taste hai toh I can't have it so pls take it from here n thank you it's okay. After such a pathetic service we were sitting there for one hour still that time the review is going on they discussed the matter there with all the staff and we were looking at them, but not a single restaurant staff or the Manager came to ask us what happened. And the staff member, one of the girl staff commented from their ki unko bolo khud hi bana le something like this, and mangar with staff laughing. Wowwww so cool of the staff, sorry to say the service ,the food, the coffee, the hot chocolate was pathetic, horrible and wastage of money. I will say the hotel management to look into this kind of service and pls try to attend the customer first and do your important meeting somewhere else in the hotel ( in such a big hotel). It seems like the staff of the restaurant didn't bother customer needs or service, so bad. Horrible and this is...

This time actually we had to go to #BhavNagar #Gujrat, to attend the biggest #FoodFest for #IndiaBookOfRecords with 200 dishes at one place at #FernIskonClub....so we came to Ahemdabad and next day we went to Bhav Nagar by road which is 3 to 4 hours drive.
Again all the protocols are being maintained by the team for safety of the guests during this Covid time. Had lunch at the Dravida, the South Indian speciality restaurant and probably the only one such restaurant in the city. The entrance n decor gives the feel of South. We got to know that it is very famous here for the authentic food.
All the hotels these days have not opened all their outlets due to the pendemic and are also managing with less staff. Exec Chef Vijay Kumar, an experienced Chef from South India only made some fusion delicacies to start with, the Khow say soup with Thai Chicken Tikka on skewers on top, awesome soup with juicy C Tikka. Cheese Cigar Roll....v crisp, soft good to taste. Hara Bhara Cheese Kebab, Nachos, Caesar Salad, all were good n nicely presented.
Their South Indian Thali is quite famous and have repeated clientele for the same. Thali includes, Raita, Curd, Hare Tamater Ki Sabzi, Papad Ki Sabzi, Keerai Masiyal.....is a South Indian style of preparing Palak, Vilayati Sabzi, Dal The Fern, Pachakari stew.... again South Indian style of stew, Baby Naan, Lachha Paratha, Tandoori Roti, Appam.... .it is an experience to relish this Thali alongwith the dessert ....Banana Dosa with Honey, Moong Dal Halwa dumplings with Paruppu Payasam.
These days the Lockdown starts by nine in the evening in Ahemdabad, so we had dinner in our room as we wanted to have a little late. We had Pani Puri with different flavours of water, Revioli and Lasaniya. Loved these Italian delicacies.
