Our dinner at Punjab Grill was one of the most frustrating restaurant experiences I’ve had. My family and I arrived before 9 PM, got a table quickly, but then had to wait fifteen minutes just to place an order. I had to shout multiple times to get the waiters' attention, and even then, they barely listened. The Chicken Tikka arrived in ten minutes, making me wonder if it was just reheated. We finished it quickly and waited over twenty minutes for the main course—Kadhai Paneer with Butter Rotis and Chicken Biryani, which we had asked to be served later. Despite clear instructions, they brought the Biryani with the Paneer, so we sent it back. Then came the next shock—the full plate of Kadhai Paneer, costing ₹600, had just four tiny pieces of paneer. Since it wasn’t enough, we ordered a half plate of Chicken Lababdar and two more Butter Rotis. Surprisingly, this time, they delivered on time. As soon as our extra Butter Rotis arrived, we asked for the Biryani, expecting it in five minutes since it was already prepared. But despite repeatedly calling different waiters, it never arrived. After waiting fifteen minutes, I called the manager and canceled it. The staff was completely unprofessional and untrained, making the entire experience frustrating. The final shock came with the bill—my brother and I had ordered two buttermilks, which weren’t on the menu. The waiter had listed a few drinks, and we went with buttermilk, only to find it cost ₹345 per glass—₹690 for two! Worse, it was labeled "Mattha" instead of buttermilk. If they were going to charge that much, they should have told us. Adding to the mess, the same staff who served food were also clearing used plates and cleaning tables. In an expensive restaurant, there should be separate staff for these tasks, but here, it was just unhygienic and unprofessional. As we were leaving, I heard another table angrily shouting at the staff, proving we weren’t the only ones who had a bad experience. Poor service, overpriced food, and careless management—Punjab Grill is a place I will never visit again, nor would I recommend...
Read moreIt is not fresh news that Punjab Grill has arrived in Ahmedabad. It has been quite a while since they have. But my visit only happened very recently. Punjab Grill with me has always been a hit or a miss place but this time it was somewhere in between. Read to know why!
After watching a movie in Palladium mall, we were suppose to dine at Punjab Grill but as food Gods would have it, we were not too hungry. At the risk of losing our reservation slot, we meandered around the mall in a hope to get back our appetite. If only, appetite could be bought from any of the fancy outlets!
We reached 15 mins late and were happy to see the restaurant not completely busy. Our table was vacant and we were ushered in without any fuss.
Our order was Palak Patta Chaat, Chicken Kebab Platter, Dal Makhanis w some Parathas.
Freshly fried Palak Patta with generous amount of chutneys made it to be a very tantalising start to our meal. So far so good. Chicken Kebab Platter as seen in the picture is a selection of their 3 Chicken starters (2 pcs each). Regular Chicken TIkka, Malai Chicken Tikka and Bhatti Da Murgh. Out of all the three Bhatti Da Murgh stood out. Chicken Malai Tikka was a creamy, cheesy starter that will speak to your palate if your spice tolerance is low. It was tasty nonetheless.
Dal Makhani was okay-ish. It wasn't seasoned well, wasn't piping hot and left us as I mentioned - feeling okay. It was an unanimous sentiment that Dal Makhani at other Punjab Grill outlets have been better. Lest it compared with other mighty restaurants like Peshawri and the likes!
For me, mark of a good restaurant is also asking, will I order this dish again. Was it that good? For this outing, my answer is strictly no. The reason has lot to do with other factors like Punjab Grill's wide and impressive menu, my appetite, number of people trying this etc. It has less to do with Punjab Grill but certainly our expectations with a giant such as it is, was...
Read moreVisited punjab grill at palladium mall in ahmedabad on 14th April 2025
Had choosen punjab grill because of previous good experience of non veg biryani as Swiggy order from another sister branch
Good ambience of restaurant but food is underwhelming Menu items are limited for veg category for eg in soups there is only one option.
They were clearly not able to handle a large group of 15 people
Service time gap is huge between starters and main course,
Main course curry is too thick as if made with some additives like corn flour or chick pea flour. Request for some customisation like not having capsicum in kadhai paneer was not entertained when there was only one option in red gravy. Roti or chapati were undercooked and had to be returned
Mocktails were also just ok same which can be easily made by newbie at home.
The cooking staff needs to reinvent else good ambience can bring customer only once but won't repeat given the premium price charged.
They gave complementary 3 sweets for a group of 15 people which came like a prasad of hardly a half a spoon of phirni , better not offering complimentary sweets
I hope management will look into same, people go with some expectations to celebrate their event.
Management and promoters put blood and sweat in establishing a brand but they should be careful how their chains are operation are executing their vision. Clearly training required for kitchen staff atleast for larger group...
