As I reflect upon my recent stay at Hotel Lakeside from July 19 2024 to July 21 2024, nestled in the heart of Dal Lake in Srinagar, I am overwhelmed with a sense of tranquility and contentment that is rare to find in the fast-paced world we live in today. From the moment I arrived with my Mom, we were greeted by Danesh and his extraordinary team, who welcomed us with open arms and treated like a part of their own family. It was evident from the start that this was not just a hotel but a sanctuary where genuine hospitality thrived and every guest was valued beyond measure.
One of the highlights of my stay was the opportunity to savor their signature Kashmiri Kahwa, a delightful blend of tea infused with aromatic spices that enveloped me in warmth and comfort. The rooms are also included complimentary tea and coffee. Every guest's needs were met with a smile and a kind word.
The rooms at Hotel Lakeside were not just clean but meticulously maintained, with attention to detail that spoke volumes about the dedication of the staff towards providing a comfortable and inviting space for guests to unwind and relax. The presence of a geyser in the room was a thoughtful touch that ensured the guests could enjoy a hot shower at any time, further enhancing the overall experience of staying at this haven of luxury and comfort.
The view from our room was nothing short of breathtaking, with the majestic Dal Lake stretching out, its sparkling waters mirroring the sky and mountains. In the evening, the sight of glittering houseboats added a touch of magic to the already mesmerizing landscape, creating a picture-perfect scene that we will forever carry in our memories.
But beyond the physical beauty of the surroundings and the comforts of the hotel, what truly stood out during my stay was the warmth and hospitality of Danesh and his team. Every interaction, whether it was a simple greeting or a request for assistance, was met with genuine care and attention, making us feel not just like a guest but a cherished member of their extended family.
In conclusion, our experience at Hotel Lakeside was nothing short of magical. It was a journey into a world where genuine hospitality, comfort, and beauty converged to create a home-away-from-home experience that left us in awe. We are grateful for the opportunity to have experienced paradise in the heart of Dal Lake, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the warmth of exceptional hospitality.

Read moreHad a stay for two days with family with two under 5 yrs kids. Checked in 24th and checked out -26th Hotel is only approachable thru Boat (provided by Hotel only 5 times (to and fro)) after that you have to pay.
View from hotel is fine and scenic.
Hotel staff was friendly till you check-in After that very slow and limited room service along with frequent electricity cuts, Water supply has issues.
Very rude response and behavior if you raise any concern.
No in house restaurant , very limited options that too seems outsourced, asked us to order food online.
Online food delivery guy will always ask for additional money to deliver as hotel is only approachable by boat.
We have raised concern of very low to NIL water pressure in toilet room no. 110 in return we got nasty response that we don't know how to use fittings.
Charged 1700/- for early morning shikara ride to vegetable market. Given the impression that it will be most scenic and unforgettable photograpgy ride for around 2hrs. Shikara sailor is among the hotel staff only. We started at 6AM morning reached the spot in just 20min (some nearby dead end in dal lake) where max 2-3 shikara's with limited vegetables stock were floating selling stock along with 4-5 other shikara's selling bags, cosmetics were only there. You will be free after clicking couple of photos and will be back in another 20mins. So basically we got misguided mentioning 02 hrs ride and creating hipe. Later we got to know Outside charges are around 700 only for same visit.
Check out was not smooth, He (Mr. Danish) charged additional 1500/- for carpet cleaning charges. As per him we have spoiled his carpet. I told him that as their is no good lunch/dinner option were available and hotel only asked us to order online and consume in rooms. There might be chances of 2-3 drops of oil may touched the carpet while putting utensils outside room corridor.
He was not ready to listen and asking us to either clean the full carpet or pay the money. I don't think it is spoiled to the gravity hotel behaved and charged additional money for cleaning.
We were adjusting with outside food options and extra delivery charges but hotel staff didn't adjusted for such minor oil droplets on carpet.

Read moreThe people running this place are very rude. They will quote you exorbitantly high prices especially for the cab and will try to scam you. They quoted us a price and sent us a cab to Gulmarg and once we reached there we were told by the local taxis that our cab will not go and we need to take a separate cab as there is no chain in our cab tyre. When we called the Hotel Guy (his name is Danish and he is very rude as you will see in other reviews also), he was so rude - he said u better send the cab back and find your own conveyance if you are not okay with paying more. Is this how a place that runs on tourism is supposed to react and talk to its customers ? After that even at the hotel he was extremely rude to us. For a second we felt like we are not in India, but in Pakistan, based on how these people were treating us. I will think ten times before visiting Kashmir again. If these people don't know how to treat guests, people will stop coming. They think tourists have come so let's loot them as much as possible at 10 times the normal price. The hotel rooms are so bad, they purposely cut off hot water and electricity at their own will, which is so inconvenient. They give substandard food at overpriced charges. The water they gave in jugs was so dirty with particles that we had to buy mineral water from outside(check attached pic). They made our whole experience so bad that we will never go back to Kashmir. They don't know a thing about customer service. Rude is an understatement. And the audacity these people had to demand for tips after their severely pathetic service. Please book some other place before visiting - even better don't visit a state that makes you feel unwelcome in your...
