Katra is a sacred and religious place. Non veg is a far of item but even food is without ginger and garlic. It is saatvik. I became a fan of this cuisine after my trip to Katra. Hotel varun is a budget hotel with basic facilities available. Manager and staff is courteous but breakfast is limited. I was in a package deal with many destinations covered. I had to choose from a list of breakfast items e.g. Paratha, Sandvich, puri bhaji etc. The food is delicious. Stay and amenities is ok. This needs to be looked into by the management. In the package including stay and food only I paid around 3K which I believe is too high. Parking is no problem. Rent is value-for-money for Katra. Food is good. I also tried their Bread Pakora and it was delicious.
You can keep your valuables locked at the reception too.
There’s bus stand is nearby. Also, there’s another nearby lane [kind of a shortcut] from where you can get an entry pass to the Vaishno Devi temple. There’s a Pharmacy also right ahead.
