Hotel Indraprastha — Hotel in Kerala

I stayed in this hotel for four days in the standard AC room. While booking only premium was available and I had requested a Standard room due to budget issues and they said if available they will offer the same to me. They kept their commitment and handed over the standard room at the time of check-in. Kudos to their genuine approach.

Pros

1. Location - The hotel is located opposite the English Church and is quite accessible to all major roads leading to and from Palakkad

2. Rooms - The standard rooms are bit old school in design, but are of good quality and had a huge balcony attached. The cots were a little tough, but not worth sweating out.

3. Service - The people right from the reception desk, to the ones in the restaurant, room service and house keeping all were very friendly and supportive. They were ready to help anytime.

4. Parking - The hotel has amazing parking space with lot of trees. You will hassle free parking.

Cons

1. Food - We are pure veg, the restaurant in the ground floor of the lodging is non vegan, while the one in the annex is pure vegan. The complimentary BF is from the vegan restaurant. The choice of food is mind blowing but the taste was a let down. Even the simple vada and sambar was not up to the taste. Also the veg restaurant does not deliver food to the rooms.

2. Washroom - The western commode is kept at an height that you literally sit without comfort during the process. The toiletries are limited to toilet soap and small shampoo bottle. The bathroom mixer is also old school, it really doesn't help you enjoy your bath.

The hotel location is just off the main road, so points for that and the fact that there is ample parking space if you're driving there.

The lobby and the exteriors are very well maintained, however, one you are in the rooms it is clearly evident that there has been a lot of neglect in maintenance.

Not that it is bad, but considered to be one of the better hotels in Palakkad, this should have been much much much better. Bath towels were white but old and not spick and span. The A.C. Just has one option, either On or Off and in our room (we went with family so we had two adjoining rooms) it wasn't working at all.

The room service was slow, it took us greater part of half hour to just get tea in the morning and we were charged 600 Rs for a Stack full of bread slices, butter and jam!

Having said that, the staff in general was good and polite throughout. Room quality was strictly alright, location was good.
