Noorjehan Fort View Restaurant in Palakkad, Kerala state, India, is located in the Surumi Plaza near the small Fort Maidan and close to the main town. Visited Noorjehan in May 2022 while I was in town buying some things.
Noorjehan has a pretty wide chain of restaurants in town. One of them took a toll due to a fire, years back. They also have a pretty good hotel on the Calicut-Stadium Bye Pass Road, pretty close to a popular Eye Hospital, if it's still there! The hotel had very compact and cozy rooms with great lush green views outside the room where you even get to see big storks flying by.
Noorjehan offers a wide variety of cuisines, including Kerala, Continental, Mughalai, Chinese, Arabic, etc. They have a live grill, free home delivery, lunch, and dinner buffets (Not sure as I didn't find it in 2022), A/c dine in, and catering facilities provided.
My first impression after I stepped in was disappointing! The restaurant had feeble lighting, showed signs of age, and could have very well used a much needed makeover and improved cleanliness. The place bore a picture of an ill lighted old bar where families were even having food! The waiters were running around and trying to get the orders from the different patrons and were hardly caring for at least some guests who were still waiting patiently and seated! I kept waiting until somebody finally showed up to get my orders.
I placed my orders for a Sweet Corn Chicken Soup, one Chikoo/Sapota Shake, Naans, and a Chicken Kuruma. The waiter left, and there were no more signs of him either coming to me or even following up until almost 20-25 minutes. Customer Service was very, very poor and practically nil. It wore a sleepy picture, even when the place was quite noisy with some people speaking very loudly. I was getting concerned as to catching my bus to get to my home town.
Finally, the orders came one by one. The Chikoo Shake was the best out of the lot, apart from the Soup. Chicken Kuruma was very oily and spicy (A bit expensive) with very little of the boned in meat. Naans were just okay.
After finishing my meal, I kept waiting for my check to arrive. It didn't happen! I didn't want to wait indefinitely and called the host and requested to bring me my final bill. The wash area looked pretty congested and could have used more light besides cleanliness. Well, that's the Noorjehan story...

Read moreit was my first and only time try at this restaurant. But i can assure you that im very impressed. The food the quality and taste are excellent. I haven't tried all the dishes, but their special biriyani and some other varieties also was pretty good. Normally some restaurant have their own variety of biriyani or some kind of dish but those are not as special as the restaurant claims., But here the specials of noorjehan was special just they said . But to everyone going to this restaurant i would suggest buying smaller portion😄., Cos we ordered a full biriyani(for 4 people portion) for 5 of us , but there was enough food for 6-7 people. Im not complaining. Its a pretty good deal if u ask me. But since i dont want anyone wasting good food ,i gave a suggestion to the customers. To the restaurant owners, keep up the good work. The price was reasonable for the quantity and also the quality of the food. Also to everyone reading this., Everything above mentioned is my opinion about my experience and the food we ordered. It might differ from people to people and other food. And if there are places to improve i hope the restaurant will improve those places and give even better experiences in future to all...
