If one is looking for an economical "budget" hotel, then i guess you can't really go wrong by staying at Pathans, a place that i had earlier found on the internet. Since the weather was pleasant enough in end October, i opted for a non a/c room and the single occupancy rate was Rs.599/- a night, The room itself (No. 605) on the 6th floor was comfortably sized and it had a writing desk, chair, a bedside table, phone, a small TV with cable connection, a cupboard, dressing table and a stool. It also has a small attached grilled off balcony. The toilet in the bathroom was clean and so was the wash basin, though the wall tiling in the same could have done with a scrub down. A small hot water geyser provides adequate water for bucket baths and the shower is not connected to the same but it's good for a nice cool shower. I did get a very mild shock, like a buzz while operating the geyser switch with wet hands. So do be careful about that. Upon check in, i was provided with a clean bed sheet and pillow cover (single pillow), no extra sheet or blanket. I really don't think they had any one come around for housekeeping. I called for room service, which arrived within reasonable time.|| The hotel is located smack on the very busy heart of the city, known as "The Round", so do expect traffic noise - try and get yourself a room on the upper floors - in any case since the first 4 floors seem to be rented out to commercial establishments and offices, i think the guest rooms are only located 5th floor and above. They have one elevator which was functional round the clock.||The vegetarian restaurant serving south indian fare is popular with the locals and i found the thali and dosas to be very nice. A relative informed me that "Bharat" restaurant in the lane right next door is much better for food and i did notice that the same was pretty crowded with the locals.||Now that i know the exact location of the hotel, i know that i could easily walk up to it from the railway station, if i am travelling light. Perhaps a ten to twelve minutes walk. The receptionist told me that at a rickshaw should cost me the minimum Rs.15/- to the station but since it was at 10pm it was fair enough to pay Rs.20/- or maximum Rs.25/- Needless to say the autorickshaw man asked for Rs.25/- and i simply agreed and got in. With a rickshaw stand right outside the hotel, there are any number of rickshaws available, round the clock.||Overall, the stay was pleasant enough and you can't really go wrong by staying at Pathans or any one of the hundreds of hotels of various star categories since it just can't get more central than staying in and around the "Round" which is the heart of the city and where all the "action"...

Room was not neat at all. full of dust and ants. The bed was full of ants biting during night... Room service was there but u wont get plate to eat. either wrapped in banana leaf or butter paper. curry n sabji's will be given in sealed packets. that was a very bad experience staying in that hotel. hope not to return...
