Puthenchirayil Homestay — Hotel in Kerala

For two backpackers, this place was absolutely perfect. The 1 star reviews seem totally unreasonable. People will complain about anything! Very clean Very convenient location (15 minute walking distance from the Airport!!) and close to the mall for food options Good price

We just wanted to stay in the city to check out the temple / stay one night before our flight. The owner was helpful and graciously stayed up until midnight to assist us with our evening departure.

I can see why this place wouldnt be ideal for those where staircases are challenging or parking is a requirement, but otherwise it was a great stay! Would stay here again if we come back to Trivandrum without question. The location is just too...

We booked one night here because it’s only a few minutes drive from the airport. We paid 150rp with an auto rickshaw but I now think we vastly overpaid - do haggle politely. Varis, the owner, is really helpful! We were late arriving, at 23:30, and had to wake Varis up, but he was polite about it. He also helped us with getting our SIM cards the next day - I recommend going to an Airtel store, but do note that it took us two hours to get two SIM cards. The room is fine - it’s bloody hot, but the fan just about did the job. The shower is cold, but very refreshing! For a convenient place to lay your head, this place does...

Our room was fine, two single beds, clean, working shower. We were expecting a homestay which it was not. The owner showed us our room, gave us our key, took our passports and we didn't see him again except for collecting our passports later. He seemed very focused on the money side of things, offering us a lift to the airport or we 'you find your own way' (It was 50 rupees in an auto.) It was really hard to find, we walked around for about 45 mins trying to access property from both sides and ended up phoning from the nearby hotel and then walking over piles of cement to get in as roadworks...
