Royal Retreat Munnar — Hotel in Kerala

Starting with the one line review, this place is awesome, mind blowing, freaking fantastic and the best in Munnar. The location is perfect, it's just around 1-3kms from Munnar town. The view in front if the place is mind blowing with a hill and a football court. Hydel park is situatied right next to this hotel where you can do peddle boating and there is flower show as well (which is an annual thing). The rooms are so clean and the staff is so friendly. There is plenty of parking place so not to worry about that. We had our own vehicle so no idea about rentals and stuff. The service is amazing . You have wifi and complementary breakfast for everyone. There is a mini refrigerator in each rooms. I suggest travelers to check-in early as you can get the cottage kind of rooms which are the best. There is small garden and a small children play area. I had been to Munnar for three days and I stayed in different hotels every day. Out of the three, I say this is the best . We paid around 3.4k for one night for 3 guests. The bed is too big that you can sleep comfortably. This is the best hotel according to me. Located at the entrance of Munnar just before the bus stand and neighbour of hill view hotel, is this cottage like residency. It has a reception attached to a descent restaurant and towards the right are three cottages with four rooms each and a huge garden at its frontage. Only the front two rooms of the three cottages has a view of the garden. The two back rooms has a view to a dirty wall. The only issue with the location is its right at the road side.

Coming to the rooms, that are average. Maintenance is not at 100%. The fittings in the bathrooms are all shaky. Door locks are old and hard to lock. Room gets a spring mattress with blanket, centre table, cupboard, two chairs, a dressing table, a TV, a flask of water and two glasses. Nothing else.

Staffs are very hospitable and food at the restaurant is very good.

In terms of communication to the outside world. You get free WiFi which is fast . But no network in the rooms unless you are using BSNL.

I came here with my boyfriend looking for room for the same night. Even though we got a room with a discount because we arrived late it was overpriced. The sheets were dirty and we could not find anyone to get new ones. It did not look like it had been changed after the last guest, and we ended up sleeping in our clothes.
