Most days they met... Around 4pm after her college... This small joint was were they met, the smell of freshly grounded coffee and the masala for dosa was always a treat to ur senses... Back then and even today crowd was the issue, been caught red handed wld have been a big issue but that didn't matter to them... Coz having that one freshly brewed coffee and the thin crisp light brown masala dosa with a masala that had a peculiar colour of the red brick together was all that matter... In between that chaos thier love bloomed... We read and hear great love stories... We often witness one in our lifetime but I grew inbetween one... my papa and amma... Read moreOne our first day at Kollam, me and my uncle from wife's side set out to find a good, neat vegetarian restaurant in the vicinity of where we were staying. The hopes of finding such a place in the heavily market oriented area was low, but to our utter surprise, we suddenly noticed a cute little building, neatly painted appearing on our right, and we stepped in to try our luck.
Hotel Guruprasad was an absolute delight. It was not just the food, not just the tea / coffee, but the neat yet simple way in which the restaurant was maintained. We could see that the restaurant has been around from a very long time, but the way renovations have been made to mix modernity with tradition is worth a salute. But what I loved personally was, that in the inner dining area, the wall is adorned from all sides with photographs of freedom fighters and people who have shaped India's history. I hope to return someday soon to salute Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose who adorns a corner at...

The poori with potato was very flavourful and ulundhu vada was crispy outside and soft inside. The pongal was just melting in the mouth. Afternoon meals get ready after 11 am and that was also sumptuous lined with colorful sides like paruppu, poriyal, kootu, more kulambu, beetroot curd Pachadi, rice, rasam, curd and papad. The pricing is very decent. One could complete breakfast with 150 rupees even if they're miniature kumbakarnan.
The ambience was vintage and they have not just enough but courteous waiters to cater the crowd during the peak times. They also have a compact family dining room where around 8 people can sit.
To sum up, it would not be an exaggeration if I say one could visit Kollam just to eat in...
