I had booked Raajkutir, Raasmanch for my wedding on 27th January 2023. Raajkutir had always been my first choice for my wedding venue because of the ambience and vibe of the place. There are so many beautiful spots for classic Bengali Wedding photographs and a vintage feel. Hence I had booked the place back in January 2022 (more than a year in advance). We started coordinating on the menu and the event plan with Samarpita around December end 2022. She personally made us talk with the chef and arranged for a food tasting. We tried Hazelnut Cold Coffee, Gondhoraj Chicken Tikka, Fish fry with Kasundi, Fish Paturi, Chingri Malaikari, Dhonepata Kacha Lanka Murgi, Thakur Barir Kosha Mangsho, Chocolate Monte Carlo. Each of the items tasted amazing and we ended up finalising the same for the wedding menu. Samarpita was present throughout the tasting event and was always eager for our feedback. Now, coming to the day of the event here's what I was disappointed with. In our contract it clearly mentions we are to leave the hall after midnight. My event planner and decorators reached the venue at 3:00 am and saw the previous day wedding was still underway. They again went to the venue at 8:00am and all the previous day decorations plus the family members of bride and groom were still present. It was at 9:00 am that Samarpita had to reach the venue and then she started taking care of the cleaning and decorations removal. My event planner decorators were unable to start the work before 10:00 am. This is in my opinion highly unprofessional. That day I didn't want to be complaining and tried to stay calm through it all. Also Samarpita tried helping me in her best possible way. But I am surprised that being a TAJ Group of hotels no one told the previous set of guests anything. My event planners later told me that if they had a little more time the decorations would have been more heavy and extravagant. They even showed my Dad all the heavy materials they carried and some they could not put up due to lack of time. When I had asked previously that can I do my "bashor raat" (staying up all night with friends and relatives which is a Bengali tradition after wedding) they denied saying that we have to leave the venue after 12am. Now why was this rule not enforced for the people who booked on 26th Jan 2023 ? A 4 star property like Raajkutir must have people to make sure that all guest bookings are honoured equally. I have no complains about how the evening went. It was beautiful. Samarpita was present throughout and was making sure all food and everything was on point. Everyone appreciated the grandeur of the place and even loved the food. They kept refilling and everything was hot and tasty. The staff took care of all the guests and were very hospitable. Everyone was impressed with how beautiful and grand the venue looks. Lastly one thing would be in a wedding ceremony we need to give food packets to some drivers/guests. Now plate count was 50 below the Guaranteed PAX yet we were not allowed any food packets. I believe this is a basic requirement in an Indian wedding and should not have been denied. The excuse given was that "food quality might get degraded". But I wonder how you all then allow food packets in the restaurants ? Shouldn't the concern be the same ? All in all, the pictures and videos came beautiful, I doubt it could have been better in any other place in Kolkata. The guests, my in-laws had no complains at all. None of them faced any issues with any staff or food. The staff were very polite and followed proper hygiene when serving them. The ambience was very very nice. The staff even served me and my husband with all the items after the wedding and kept asking us if we needed anything. Samarpita was truly great to work with. She really calmed me down throughout the event and made sure to do her best. The issues I faced is my complain to the TAJ management of Raajkutir. I would not want any bride to go through the same hassle on her wedding day. This review would have been a 5 star otherwise.

Raajkutir is not just a hotel, it's an experience altogether. As you enter the property, it's a very unique experience. You take an elevator to reach the 2nd level but as you cross the bridge and enter the reception one is instantly transported to a whole new world and the feel remains of being on the ground and not at a height at all. The Ambuja Neotia group has created this wonderful boutique property with full passion, it shows clearly. A grand entrance takes you to the sprawling courtyard which has a beautiful plush green corner as well as forage almost on all sides.Check-in is smooth and welcome is traditionally beautiful. It's a 33 room property, and each room has a different charm and name as per the imaginative story created by them from the Zamindari era during mid 19th century. The sprawling heritage mansion spreads over 15 acres of land area and provides the perfect opportunity to soak into the bygone grandeur of Zamindars of Bengal. Rooms are big with beautiful poster beds and colonial charm to the fullest. East India Room , the all day dining is another masterpiece, the old world charm is purely evident and even the menu has all the ingredients of the Bengali renaissance era from the pre independence days. We had one of the best and most memorable meals here, one which included a celebration of Hilsa ( Ilish fish) specially curated by Subrata Debnath ( Business Head) and Chef Bikrom Das ( Exe. chef). Breakfast is served here too, but on your table instead of a buffet. We can order anything from the set menu as we like. Service is class apart with the best of servers and staff. During my stay, I also enjoyed the luxury of the Samaaya Spa, it's a bliss trust me. Masseuse was one of the best I have experienced till now anywhere. The fitness centre is well equipped and the outdoor swimming pool is welcoming. Their is also a Coffee and bakery shop ( Loafers Cafe) just at the entrance which offers a great meeting place. Not to forget the huge banquet spaces this property has in its kitty. I was taken aback by the grandeur and the intricate interiors of the halls. The Swig Bar is awaiting license and will be operational soon, for now they take a weekend license for the guests. Raajkutir is a perfect getaway for the city people who don't wish to drive much to seek relaxation, being in the city this place gives you a feel of a resort in total peace and calm atmosphere.

Was there for a staycation on a weekend. Location is within the city just off the EM Bypass. Very convenient to travel to. To start off with, getting into the property was a hassle. They don’t allow entry through the designated entry gate. You are supposed to drop your people at particular point (not the vehicle entry point) and then go ahead and drive the car through Exit gate to reach the parking place. The security guard was absent and had to be harassed twice on a busy road as stopping there creates a traffic jam. So the resort authorities should make sure more than one personnel are placed (at least during the checkin time). Then on the experience was actually TAJ like. It was excellent. Right from reception to exit, we were very well taken care of. It is a picturesque resort. More of a zamindar’s place. They have recreated and fusionend the old with the modern very nicely. The courtyard is a special attraction. A lot of space to sit and relax, the rooms are all encircling the courtyard. You get local folk song live performance in the evening and a very very soothing flute performance in the morning to wake upto. The resort also has a lot of trees and plants and is covered with a lot of greenery. The food needs a special shout-out since that’s of course a big hit here. The restaurant East India has limited menu. No buffet (neither lunch dinner nor for breakfast), but the food quality is excellent. You must indulge. Your taste buds will have a gala time for sure. Also has a bar ‘The Swig’ which we didn’t try though. The pool and spa were under renovation when we visited. That was a major disappointment for us as we wanted to relax and what better way than a swim and spa therapy. We had categorically confirmed before booking if they wre running and had received positive confirmation. But on reaching the resort we were informed they are under maintenance. Although we were offered complimentary pick and drop to the nearest other Taj hotels for the swimming pool and spa centre, we didn’t want to travel again as they are pretty much distance away from Raj Kutir. Hope to get pampered next time once they are functional. Each and every staff were very courteous and they know their business of satisfying the customers.

I guess the words would fall short to describe the wholesome experience me and my family had here. We stayed from 12 July to 13 July 2023. We blocked two superior rooms (#106/#107) since it's a bari-styled hotel (Bengali mansions) our rooms had Bengali names based on the family members' names which were quite unique, and our rooms were next to each other and right in front of the huge courtyard. The bar swig was right next to the rooms and I must say the choices of English songs they played throughout the day were amazing. All old classics.

Checkin- You need to get down at the Photok which is the entrance and the bell boy will assist you with luggage. The staff were welcoming was warm and comfortable, They offered a spicy and tangy cinnamon-based welcome drink which was okayish but refreshing. Although, No aarti tika welcoming.

The check-in was smooth and the GRE assisted us to our rooms, we reached right on check-in time so the rooms were ready. The staffs are friendly and accommodating.

This is the very uniquely styled hotel I have ever been to it doesn't have any typical hotel structure yet it offered every possible experience. The rooms were on the second floor?? but, it wasn't even felt like.

The deluxe rooms are quite bigger and have a common pathway/balcony but according to me, a couple can stay in a superior room as it's on the ground floor and offers more or less the same amenities as deluxe rooms only the room size is different. The rooms were spacious, clean, and beautiful. The bathroom was also good. All the basic amenities were available inside the room. ' The bedding was amazing, it was the softest and fluffiest bed I ever slept on.

In the evening they arranged a Bengali aarti prayer, hi-tea session, and Bengali cultural dance for the residential guests on a complimentary basis.

The East India Room restaurant also offers a delicious and wide variety of cuisines.

The loafers cafe looked aesthetic but I didn't have the chance to go there.

The swimming pool was the highlight of the whole stay, it was clean, the water temperature was perfect, clean shower rooms, pool towels and the seating area around the pool were also good. The staff boy at the pool was extremely friendly and made sure we were comfortable.

The girls at the Jiva spa were also very attentive and welcoming. Couldn't get the chance to use the gym but it was a decent gym equipped with enough workout equipment and open 24 hrs.

In the morning they did aarti and arranged a flute session which was melodious and amazing, Imagine waking up to the calm and peaceful flute sound.

I would say the breakfast buffet was again one of the highlights, the staffs were attentive and the buffet offered had a wide variety of food displayed as well as from the live counter.

Check-out was also smooth and the bell boy (forgot his name but something like Dinesh/Rajesh) who assisted us was very friendly and bid us goodbye.

Whenever we will visit Kolkata again definitely going to book a stay here only.

A proper star...

All About Akash – Smriti wedding at Swabhumi Raajkutir Our wedding was held at Swabhumi Raajkutir on the 1st and 2nd of May. This property is located at one of the central and posh localities of Salt Lake city with good connectivity and makes it easier for the guests to commute. We read a lot of reviews about this place and decided to visit with my family to look around and see if this ‘THE PLACE' for our wedding. At the very first visit this boutique hotel touched my heart and I decided this is it and my search for the venue ends here. But there was a lot more to consider amidst Covid and availability. After a series of discussions with the Raajkutir employees I blocked the venue for our wedding. Now about the Guest experience. This boutique hotel captures the spirit of the Bengali renaissance and being a Bengali I felt an eternal connection to this place. It is a place that is bustling with laughter, antique boutiques, dazzling chandeliers, and architectural heritage. It was a full 2 days packed escapade with events and ceremonies planned. This boutique hotel has curated rooms which offers a truly nostalgic zamindar bari ambience. This wedding gave us the reason for merrymaking, family get-togethers and association. Conventions and event venues (Raangmanch, Raasmanch, Arcadia) are pure magnificence to host a lavish wedding. The venue is so beautiful it captured our hearts and made our wedding a memorable event. Overall, a historical experience. A wedding is incomplete without delicious food. Throughout the events exceptional culinary was selected and served to the guests which accolated very positive guest reviews. This wedding is made eventful and hassle-free by the courteous and cooperative staff. A big shout out to the event Manager Ms.Samarpita. She was the backbone to coordinate this event with me. She ensured all the events are timed well and guests are looked after. She has a very welcoming personality and that is why we connected well and together we called out an eventful wedding. I would also like to mention about banquet Manager Mr. Gautam. He was the man behind coordinating the buffet and ensured guests were served well. A special mention of this hotel's evening events. Evening Baul sangeet gaan, special performances by the performers accentuated guest experience. We felt divine and solitude. It was that time to switch off and relax. Overall, a very positive experience and I highly recommend this place for your...
