Hotel Aura Grand Amritsar by Levelup Hotels & Resorts — Hotel in Punjab

I was very excited for my stay at this hotel, considering the 4.9 rating it has. After completing 2 nights here, I have no idea how it has over 4. The reviews are definitely fake. The google info says it has Valet parking??? There was NO parking!!!! There is barely any space. My driver had to park the car on the main road.

For the price and 3 star status, it lacks basic cleanliness. We were first given the room on the ground floor which did not look like a 3 star at all. I thought I'll cut my losses and make do for 2 days. Then I opened the wardrobe and there were 3 cockroaches. Luckily my request to change rooms was accepted without any hassle and was moved to third floor. This room was decent and clean.

Then I went to the kitchen and saw a dead cockroach in a bowl which was supposed to be clean and ready for plating. Instantly lost my appetite and did not eat there the next day despite having prepaid for breakfast and dinner for 2 days.

Room service - there are 2 sets of staff I guess. The ones during the day are very polite and helpful. The ones at night are plain rude and I legitimately felt scared of them. When I requested to change my towels on the second day, the guy who brought them peeped into my room and said "I can see 3 towels(we were 3 people), why do you need more?" In a very threatening tone.

I would be less harsh if this hotel did not have a 4.9 rating already. I had very high expectations and it did not even come close to it.

With that said, here are the things I did like about the hotel-

-Location: It's very conveniently located. Easy access to auto rickshaws at any time of the day. -Bathroom: Is very good. Has all the amenities and was pretty clean too. -Reception: The only professional staff at the hotel. The bell boys during the day(not the ones at night) are very helpful and polite.

I was fooled by the reviews here and in Google. Firstly the property itself falsely claims to be on Queens road. Queens road is the main road but the hotel is in a small narrow road where it is very difficult to get in with a 4 wheeler. There is drain water coming on to the road. You feel filthy while walking in. We somehow went inside the road with our car and finally when we went to reception for checking in, there was already a huge group present since 2 hours waiting for checking in. When we asked for checking in, the hotel receptionist tried to convince us to allocate a room in the next adjoining hotel Beyote Inn quoting that the hot water system for all the rooms in the hotel is under repair. I was sure this guy was fooling around. I insisted that I need a room as per my booking and he made me wait for an hour and a half before gave me the keys to the room. The management has a philosophy that they won't push for timely checkouts to their already existing customers and make the customers who are tired after long travel to wait until the existing guys check out and they clean the rooms which is pathetic. When I questioned this to the receptionist, he started arguing and shouting with me "kal aap agar aap check out nahi kiye to dhakke maarke nikaal doon kya". Is this the way to talk to a customer. I was shell shocked seeing his rude behaviour. Somehow after we got the keys, the room was so small that it was almost the size of its bathroom. There was no doormats given. Wifi was not working, many channels in TV were not working. Pls note the price of this hotel was around 3500/- per night and this is the service that I get. The hotel is situated in the centre of Amritsar so it is quite accessible with public transport to all tourist places. The Hotel is situated in a small lane so there are a lot of difficulties for parking. The first impression of the hotel and the room is quite good. They have lifts and key card rooms. The room was clean with all the complimentary things provided like tea bags, coffee, sugar & milk powder packets, hot water kettle etc. There was a foul smell coming from the bathroom, I guess they have an issue with the drainage system. They have a buffet system in the basement. The food is delicious with a lot of options for breakfast & dinner. The Hot water was not available and still after calling the reception, they didn't even care to check again. The next day it was my checkout, but my train was in the evening from Amritsar. I requested them to kindly help me with the time extension till evening at a reasonable rate. They told me the charges twice the one day charge of the room. Luckily, I had come there through my travel agency, and they called and brought it down to a reasonable rate.
