recently visited Bubby Fish and Chicken in Amritsar, and here’s my honest take:
Ambience & Service: The outlet is decent and clean, with a functional setup. The service was good—prompt and polite, which added to a smooth dining experience.
Food Ordered: • Mutton Curry • Special Kharode (per piece)
Pricing: The prices are fair for the portion and quality, making it budget-friendly for a non-veg craving.
Taste & Experience: The mutton curry was quite average. It wasn’t spicy and had a very general taste—something you could find at many other places. As a mutton lover, I was a bit disappointed because it lacked the distinct goat aroma and richness that usually defines a good mutton curry. If you’re expecting a unique or bold flavor profile, this dish might not meet your expectations.
On the other hand, the special kharode was absolutely fantastic. It was greasy, rich, and full of flavor—so much so that I ended up ordering two more bowls after the first one. It’s definitely a MUST TRY. Just a heads-up: it’s not the usual soupy version of kharode. Instead, it comes in a tadka-style curry, which makes it even more enjoyable for those who like thick and flavorful gravies.
Final Thoughts: Their popularity is justified—there’s no concern about food freshness or hygiene. If you’re looking for non-veg food that’s not overly spicy and want to try one of the best kharode dishes in town, this place is a...
Read moreCame here after hearing rave reviews — now I’m wondering if those people were just suffering from nostalgia… or a serious lack of taste buds.
The Amritsari fish fry was actually quite good — crispy, well-seasoned, and probably the only reason I’m not giving zero stars (unfortunately, Google won’t let me). But then came the Chicken Patiala, which was an absolute train wreck. Apparently, the chef forgot the entire creamy base that makes the dish what it is and decided to go full throttle on spice instead. It wasn’t just spicy — it was borderline inedible.
The highlight of the night? The owner tasting the disaster, making a visibly confused face, then claiming he liked it. A masterclass in denial, really — I haven’t laughed that hard in a restaurant in a while.
The biryani was… there. That’s all I can say. It filled space on the table and added nothing to the experience. Bland, forgettable, and exactly what you’d expect from a place that’s clearly running on fumes of reputation.
This place feels like a legacy restaurant handed over to someone who’s more interested in looking like they’re running a famous spot than actually maintaining its quality. But hey, I guess mediocrity sells when wrapped...
Read moreIf zero was an option.. travelled from Australia and went out of my way to visit a place that only gives food poisoning amd resuses left over food.
Had the privilege of hunting this place down from reviews. Food is mediocre- have tried so much better at other places in Amritsar Naan is like eating cardboard, absolutely papad like INTERNATIONAL BORN/TRAVELLORS pls becareful- the waiter will bring you more or less than your requested product eg ask for 1/4 you get 1/2 plate and told you ask for it PACK THE FOOD IN FRONT OF YOU- so with 2 of us we couldn't eat our food. Asked the waiter to pack my left overs which was alot eg had 2 pieces of lemon chicken and there was a huge portion - he came back with packing 1 piece and goes you ate the rest this is what's left over.
So, if you can't finish your food - get them to pack in front of you. Lemon chicken was so questionable it's like a white sauce that's thickened with slurry, squeezed generously with lemon and has a raw saute of onions and capsicums. It's like an international base dish that's got a spin on it.
Pro- the inside of restaurant was so clean.
Not sure if...
