We visited Bundi in 2007 but always wanted to return given our first visit was brief. It doesn't seem to have changed that much - except for the traffic.||Dev Niwas is a sister property to Jagat Niwas in Udaipur, and similar in style although on a smaller scale and with a more modest style, in keeping with the destination.||We had a suite, which was generous and well furnished, with a large firm double bed with good linen. It had a spacious ensuite wetroom (shower in the corner that didn't wet everything else) and good storage for luggage.||The rooms are on 2 levels, arranged around a courtyard, with lovely sitting areas at ground level. Suites are on the upper level - by steep stairs.||Given its old city location, larger vehicles cannot easily get close to the haveli - our driver had to park at the nearby palace car park and DN sent its own auto-rickshaw for the quick transfer to the haveli - it fitted 2 adults and a lot of luggage.||We were an easy walk to the palace, market and other attractions - although the narrow streets are blighted by motorcycles - as with other Indian cities.||The open air (but covered) rooftop restaurant has a lovely view of the palace - the main reason for our choosing this accommodation. The cooking was good, but breakfast wasn't included with our accommodation package and overall we thought the food bill was a bit on the pricey side when we checked out.||The staff were friendly and helpful; the property is well managed. There is good wifi.||Bundi is well connected to Jaipur by a good road - about 3.5 hours in good traffic. It's between Jaipur and Udaipur but doesn't seem as popular as other Rajasthan places. It's probably not a place for those with mobility issues: the palace - its major attraction - is a steep walk to enter and there are many steep stairs to navigate inside. Similarly, DN would be difficult for those with mobility issues.||Overall DN is a good option if Bundi is on...
Read moreIt was my first time visiting Bundi and Dev Niwas definitely is one of the reason I enjoyed my stay to the core. I will list down all pros and cons about this hotel. Pros: Location is absolutely amazing. It gives to easy (walking) access to so many beautiful sites (Taragarh fort, Rani Ji ki baori, Nawal Sagar and others) Room and bathroom was neat and clean. Bathroom was Fitted with water heater and had no flaws. View from the restaurant and terrace just adds to your experience of staying here. You can see well lit Taragarh fort from here while enjoying food and alcohol. Food was delicious. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner (different cuisines) and they were all very well prepared. Best was dry diced chicken (they made it on special request from me 😊) Staff is courteous and welcoming. They did everything possible to make our stay comfortable. Decor of the whole place and rooms makes it a u quiet place to stay. Very cost effective. I am not gonna mention the amount we paid for a 3 night stay but I can assure you that it’s easy on ur pocket. Dev Niwas has a gorgeous front yard and a small temple (opposite the reception) which enhances the aura.
Cons: Honestly none but there are a couple of things I would like to mention. I think they should keep floor wiper in bathrooms. Tiles can be slippery after bath. Quality of towels should be improved (if possible). Using them after shower will leave towels strands on ur body which makes it a little irritating. 😋
Rest I assure you that this hotel will not disappoint you. I simply LOVED it and will recommend the same to all my friends or family members who plan to...
Read moreNo fault of the hotel, but Bundi is such a damned place. Unlike tourist spots that try to attract tourists, or the ones that are indifferent to it, and take no measures to encourage tourism, Bundi feels like it's making special effort to keep tourists off. I have visited throughout India, all of Rajasthan, but haven't seen a city as horrible as Bundi. The streets are narrow, like narrow as hell, with traffic to the brim of it, full of horns, pedestrians, two wheelers, cars, randomly parked vehicles, cows all covering a 12 foot road throughout. No effort by the city authorities to atleast make way so that any tourist can reach the fort and destinations. The Traffic is very very bad. Your four wheeler won't enter the roads, and if you're stubborn, they'll get stuck. My car couldn't reach this hotel that I booked and seeing the hotch-potch of this city I let go of my reservation and dashed out of this god forsaken city at once, well.... in an hour actually cuz of the traffic. No parking at the hotel. No prior information by the hotel that you should take this or that route to reach the hotel or that four wheeled vehicles can't reach it. ||If you're an Indian visiting with family, avoid this city. If you're a foreigner reaching by bus or some other transport, staying at this hotel, and walking about the narrow streets, it might work for you, but hey, there are much better places to visit in India. So be...
